Destiny’s Embers: Sneak peek

image

For those of you who have bought Elemental: Destiny’s Embers, we’re working on some new DLC for Fallen Enchantress just for people who have the book.

image
Up in the Henge is the fortress city of “Outpost”.

Exploring the caves

If you ever wanted to see what it would be to go on the adventure that Xander, Geni and friends went on, you’ll be able to see it. Ambrose, Mirdoth, Tandis, Nym and the rest will be there.

(in these screenshots I’m using Relias to travel the map)

Thanks Brad.  It was funny when I was pulling down 1.1, I saw the download for the E:WOM content, and wondered if anything would come of it.  Can't thank you guys enough for the support.

They did that for the EWOM version of this stuff, though sadly none of the characters already present treated them as something unusual.

Question: Is this DLC campaign going to be of similar nature in mechanic compared to the intro campaign?

I'll try to dig up the thread that had my unfortunate misgivngs about that campaign...

 EDIT: Here it is...

Nym is the shit.  I love that guy.  I can't wait to see what a bad ass he will be.  In the first game he dual wielded and attacked super fast, had like 10 attacks a turn, but the combat was a lot different in that game.  He was my favorite character in the book.

Awesome! Can't wait!

Not really. I'm doing this scenario myself.  Jon Shafer did the campaign for FE.  So my scenario will have a different set of misgivings. ;)

But I'll say it straight out, this scenario will have no city building in it. No research. No tech trees. No unit training. You gather units by hiring them, finding them or winning them over. You get spells by finding them, winning them, etc.  Your champion's path will be "Path of Destiny" (not earth, air, water, etc.).   I'm just using FE as the engine.

Honestly, that sounds even better. It'll be great to see something so completely different from what we have so far.

Why isn't dual wielding in the base game then?  I've seen a bunch of folks ask for it.

Only Nym gets to dual wield!

Well, he really didn't dual wield truly,  he had an off hand dagger that added to his attack and defense rating(I think).  So , it wasn't true dual wielding  but it was pretty cool anyway.

How hard would it be to a put proper dual wielding system in?  It's something I would want for the expansion.

I think just adding off hand weapons like Nym's Dagger would be great.  I actually don't like dual wielding in a lot of games, it's kind of ridiculous. I see a dragon breath fire, I think "awesome!", I see a wizard shoot lightning out of his hands, I think "cool!", but when I see a guy dual wielding longswords, I think "Bullshit!".  Why I can't suspend my disbelieve of something that is far more realistic than a dragon, I have no idea, but it just seems like shit to me.  And then most games that have it make any other combinations useless, so it's all dual wielding all the time and shields and two handed weapons go away.

But a true system would mean they would have to have separate attack scores and I don't think the game really works well with that.  But a off hand weapon that adds a bonus would be nice.

Oh yeah... I totally forgot that there was a story mode...

I think Heaven Fall has a dual wielding mod out there.

I think Heaven Fall has a dual wielding mod out there.

From what I gathered he just have a few sets of weapons that kind of might meaby look like they are dual wielded.
Set of weapons that are dual wielded within the set, is not the same as picking up 1 dagger, and 1 short sword and try to dual wield them.
3: Might be me wanting the world and all the wonders all at once though.

Edit: Ignore the prior and look here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/427129

That said, it would still need proper mechanical implementation before a number-nut such as I would implement it in a mod..., then again, look at my line nr 3.

Sincerely

Based on things I have heard people that do this stuff "for real" (or sca, or whatever) claim, that sounds to me like true dual wielding (except that you should also get a minor penalty to accuracy).

Dual wielding, if I understand the descriptions I have heard of the fighting style properly, is a two handed weapon that has two components.  Note also that you are fighting with your whole body, and not just your hands -- where your feet are matters, for example.

Just wondering if this ever got released?

I can't see anything on my account for Destiny's Embers other than "Elemental - Destiny's Ember Bonus Content" which was for Elemental : War of Magic

Yeah I just finished the book and really enjoyed it.  Hope you plan on releasing more of the story.  I tired to enter my code and it told me it was invalid:(  Would love to know if this ever got made and if there is a way for me to get it.  Thanks.
