Windows Repair 1.9.2

Frequently after a malware infection, you lose settings.

This tool will restore them:

  • Reset Registry Permissions
  • Reset File Permissions
  • Register System Files
  • Repair WMI
  • Repair Windows Firewall
  • Repair Internet Explorer
  • Repair MDAC & MS Jet
  • Repair Hosts File
  • Remove Policies Set By Infections
  • Repair Icons
  • Repair Winsock & DNS Cache
  • Remove Temp Files
  • Repair Proxy Settings
  • Unhide Non System Files
  • Repair Windows Updates

and more stuff. It’s a tool worth having, and what’s neat is that if you had an earlier version and a problem with it, this version will fix that.

So what’s new here?

  • Per user request the main repair window is now resizable.
  • Added 11 new file association repairs. What makes these repairs different than just clicking a reg file is on vista and newer some of the keys are locked. Since the program runs the repairs under the system account these repairs have access to those locked keys.
  • Added a "Tips" button that loads a page on the site with some tips on which repairs to run and tricks you can do with the program.
  • Changed the list in the program to a tree view.
  • Some repairs are now unchecked by default now instead of all repairs checked.
  • Many code changes.

I included a video of the utility since it saves me a lot of “busy” work with screenshots. You can see the features of the program, and hear some background on its developer.

If you have suggestions about the tool you can email the dev: [email protected]

By the way, it’s an exe which can be put in your “toolbox on a stick”.

Not sure the pinky up the ass looks any better.  Dirty minds can't help it.

The pinky's in the background, and it's angled a bit anterior for that, don't you think?

What pinky? :P :w00t:

This is an excellent tool to keep in your repair kit. Have used it many times on many machines and it never fails to fix whatever I was aiming to repair. It seems I have become the "go to person" around here for computer repair. Think I need to up my price from the case of Diet Cherry Pepsi! :meow:

I have a 'slab' of Coopers coming for the last one..... [a slab is 24 stubbies/cans] ..... and annoyingly, this proggy probably would have made the job easier...;)

Nope, it's witch on a stick [as in broom]... wizard on a wand.

[or I could have left my typo up there and had wizard on a wang instead] :-"

As for the tool [not a reference to anyone here :-" ], it is a very useful application for restoring Windows to its original state after infection or mishap.  I've used it a couple of times now and found it to be effective while being easy to use.

It is a good tool. The several options it gives you.....aside from downloading what you already have or should have.....CHKDSK, s/fc scannow.....did that and it found a few corrupted files and repaired them. Tells you where to find the log to see which ones were repaired. The last part, if you uncheck all then click on options, opens a web page to Tweaking.com and it explains which ones should be used in combination with others to effect repairs. Best part...it tells you to disable your AV apps because they definitely will not play nice with the tool and might interfere with the repairs. All in all a very good thing to have. I plan on going for the portable version too.

Nice having these actually incorporated into a tool.  I've referenced these type of files in the past and never got around to compiling them all locally.   Yay new tool!
