1.03a available

We put up a tiny tweak to 1.03 on Tuesday with the following changes :

Fix for a rare text repaint issue
Added in support for right click dragging off the startmenu to create shortcuts on the desktop
Modification to stop applications with . in their name from being truncated on the all programs list
Modification to stop Browser choice metro app from being shown as "ser choice" if pinned / frequent apps list.

To obtain this either download the latest file from the store (paid customers), or reobtain the trial download link from the website (if trial)

The update button will not detect this version right now.  In app it will show as 1.03, but you can confirm you have the version by simply clicking on a start menu shortcut with the right mouse button and dragging to the desktop.  When you release the mouse you should get a menu asking about creating a shortcut,

I just downloaded and installed build 1.03a and the new feature "right click dragging off the startmenu to create shortcuts on the desktop" is not working at all for me.

When I right click a file from the all programs list and try and drag it nothing happens.

Also in the about box it still says 1.03 not 1.03a if that means anything.

I really would like the right click "Send to" option added for sure.

Right click drag is only enabled on the main list not the all programs list.  You can use left mouse drag on the all programs list.

But the left click drag from all programs moves the file off of the start8 menu and places it on the desktop. It does not create a desktop shortcut.

I hope the "Send to" right click option that you have for modern UI apps will also be added for all other programs on the all programs list in the future.

There is also a bug when using "send to" with the modern UI apps as all you get is a blank icon and they are not clickab;e from the desktop. I did however already make another post about that issue.

Anyway thanks for the info and Happy Thanksgiving to all :)

See the issue with this is I use a wireless mouse with my computer when I am in my bedroom and am not near the computer so holding down the alt key would not be possible in this situation. I use one of my computers in my bedroom hooked up to my HDTV and I am not near the computer. I just use the mouse from my bed in this case which is not near the computer.

The alt key is fine when I am at my desk but not in other cases as you can see :)

We plan to have the usual right click drag in future updates for the all programs list.  So your slightly unusual situation will be handled.

Well in the meantime there is the On-Screen Keyboard.  8(|   Although, depending on the distance you are from the computer and the size of your monitor/display you may also have to use the Magnifier when using the On-Screen Keyboard!  ;P

May I request that a clear version / build is used for every release?

I think it is just good practise that every new release or update be accounted for with an appropriate build number.

This also helps the customer experience with being able to actually see what they have.

Thanks,

That is usually the plan.  1.03a was simply a quick interim build designed to address an issue that had come up that we felt was important enough to resolve for anyone just downloading.

Going forward I would hope that will not happen again.

I deactivated showing metro apps on start menu, but Store and PC Config are still showing?

Is this a bug?

Those exist as real shortcuts so we are not flagging them as modern ui apps.

I will see if we can link them to that setting too.

I have the paid version but when I click on Store- it states I need to buy it again for 4.99-huh?

in my downloads it shows 1.03 but is that not the original version I bought?

so where do I get the upgrade?

ok on My downloads it should say 1.03a so there is no confusion

also I do not see a right click to send a copy of the shortcut on the start menu to the desktop

If you just drag it onto the desktop, it takes it out of the start menu

I thought this version was going to allow you to right click the icon and click the option "send to desktop"

ok I tried the alt right click then dragged and it worked but this is not for the average user to use because most look for the right click- send to option, they will not know how to do this  your way unless they come in here.

If I install the trial on my clients computers they will surely get frustrated with the way you have this set up now and will not purchase it and look for something else to use that is free,  unless you fix this asap.

The right click send-to menu is an option for the all programs list in the 1.09/1.1 beta that is downloadable from this thread : https://forums.stardock.com/437628

The shutdown -> Switch user menu item does not work?

Are you using Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro?

I am hopeful the 1.1 release (RC downloadable from this forum) has addressed this problem and if so the release version should be coming next week.
