Lay of the Land on Turn 1 (3/3/2 founding tile):

This will be my first attempt at telling a story via the Skeleton King's diary... please be merciful, lol.

Spring 159 AC

This broken world reflects my existence. Body destroyed and then bound together again with dark magics. World destroyed and held together by the magic of the shards. Sin and despair in these bare bones, misery and chaos throughout the land. Though I am told I was the Fifth Patriarch, I do not apparently share the same desires. Alive? Dead? I am neither yet I am both. The mortals of this place, who despise me for what I am, will not share the world. Fine - I will take it. And all will bend and be reformed in my own image.

Great endings have small beginnings. The center of my power, Golgotterath, was founded today. Commanded the skeleton workers to create a logging camp and our researchers to focus in the area of workshops. Conquering this place means using the resources available - my legacy begins now. Exploration is of utmost importance.

Summer 175 AC

Dangerous threats abound... Founded our 5th settlement, Eajir, near the old lair of the Forest Drake. It was a gamble, and the beast made a beeline to the settlement. Warmaster Skrymir joined me in the defense... had to move fast, since a Great wolf lair and her brood were disturbed back near the capital. Engaged the drake outside the settlement. Before engaging, I made sure both Skrymir and I had a healthy dose of evade. Once in the midst of combat, I blinded the beast and hasted both Skrymir and myself. Skrymir placed graveseal on the drake thereby ensuring each attack we made was critical and reached for the vitals. The last thing we did was quickly down some Quendar wine for an extra swing in our... swing. We agreed to attack from both the front and rear of the beast. Either the beast was going down, or we were...

The Threat:

Attack!

Victory but not without losses. Had to use salted pork (or is it salted meat, salted tofu, I forget) on both sov and champ to pull this off, plus all the things noted above.

Skrymir suffered Icegripped. He's much slower than before...

Winter 175 AC

Edror of the Shadows found my empire. Fascinating race - must acquire and study their ability to change form. The elves, ahh the elves... Relations are already cool, Sowien must not trust me. I hate them. They are part of the original weaker creation - I am the future. Fighting at range with bows, what cowards. My blood, so to speak, boils at the mere thought of these vile creatures. I will wipe them all out, not one will exist to taint the new future. I will keep Sowien in a cage, left alive at the seat of my power, to view millions of my minions changing their world. Like a spider awaiting in the darkness, I will time my strike...

Turn 70 - FP 29. Highest remains Greenskin at 92. Now that the drake is dead, focusing my attention on a Great wolf and brood near capital. Looking inwards for a moment to clear some mobs - they are starting to threaten settlements and supply lines. Still room to expand... Save.

Summer 176 AC

I cannot get Sowien out of my mind. Must focus on the task at hand... I will have her, and change her, she will be my Queen.

Summer 177 AC

This creation continues to fascinate me. My scouts report they've found a hybrid of demon and fire shrill, aptly named a Demonshrill. It appears they are hardy to fire, can web, and are adept at penetrating armor. Must devise a way to bring them into my fold...

Winter 177 AC

Clearing the blinded cave bear on the eastern boundary was no problem. As a just reward, I received a Crown of Thrones. Beware, enemies, for I am rubber and you are glue, whatever you do bounces off me and heads to you.

Turn 80 - FP 39. Highest are Greenskin at 117. Founded 6th city to the east near the now cleared cave bear lair. There is an extremely dangerous butcherman lair which includes a corpse spider. Sov and army are stationed at the new city in preparation of clearing that menace. Skrymir and his stack are about to do battle with the Fiery Gorgons and prepare further settlement to the south. Internal borders are quiet, no wars as of yet. Save.

Winter 178 AC

Another node to my power structure has been founded. Must clear the menacing butchermen and corpse spider. Once cleared, will send some scouts east to discover what lays beyond. Skrymir must deliver on the southern front. The Giant has not yet failed me. Not yet ready for open warfare - do not yet know where my future queen, Sowien, resides. All in evil time, all in evil time...

Spring 180 AC

Those rock spiderlings were deviously more difficult than I assumed. The damned things gave me a black eye, a black eye! How does the undead get a black eye? I will repair the damage using my will. Although an eye patch would appear dreadful and inspire terror in my enemies.

Summer 180 AC

Skrymir delivered... his letter indicated he cleared the Fiery Gorgon lair and surprisingly, it appears we can recruit them to our side. I've tasked Skrymir to determine how to sway their opinion and join our ranks. I could use their fiery range attacks to supplement my hordes of bone spearmen. Prepare yourselves, Elves, prepare yourselves...

Turn 90 - FP 57. Greenskin are highest at 118, lowest are Centaurs at 51. Internal monster lairs are all now under control. Threats all exist at borders. One of the Shadows champions, Naegach the Stonecutter, actually finished off a Great Wolf and her brood which was a nice bonus - I got the lair. Have contiguously connected all settlements except one thereby negating the 15% unrest penalty. Opened up a few treaties with the Golems and Centaurs - none are non-agression pacts. Getting ready to found our 8th settlement and grow the domain to the southest towards Eajir. The elves are due east but all is quiet at the moment. Next 10 turns will be focused on founding the next settlement, pacifying remaining monster lairs, and consolidating. Save.

Summer 181 AC

I keep hearing rumors of a race called Greenskin... a powerful race. Where are they? Who is their leader? Must have control and the unknown threatens that. I hear that this race leans, shall we say, to the more diabolical natures. This could fare well to my future stuggle with the Elves. Sowien, you will capitulate and become my queen. You will surrender your will.

Summer 183 AC

Warmaster Skrymir led a campaign against a bone ogre southwest of our lands... and it did not turn out well. Although victorious, Skrymir managed to lose 2 units of bone spearmen and suffered a grievouos wound called Shrivelled. I may need him become a governor sooner rather than later. In addition, our scouts provided a report of a wolf-man leading a shadow army. A wolf-man? These reports cannot be accurate...

Turn 100 - FP 60. Highest are the Greenskin at 133. Lowest are the Centaurs at 56. Relations with the Elves are degrading fast... now hostile. War will be here soon. Now have groups, thus can make some 4 unit spearmen and defenders. Expansion and consolidation is nearing completion, time to focus on building what I have and shoring up armies and defenses. This is about to get good. Save.

Summary of First 100 Turns - Pure awesome. Content is really cool, diggin' the faction and sovereign. Only one wish - that SD makes it so the game allows spreading of unique tiles. I'm totally imagining decrepit forests with skulls, death infested tiles, etc. Basically spreading the faction domain throughout the world. I hope SD gets the engine and memory management to handle that at some point and turn it on.

Winter 183 AC

Sensing a war with the Elves soon. More power is what I need. The settlement of Gravehold mentions spiders are on the loose east of the city limits. I will head east to eliminate that problem. Skrymir continues to nurse his wounds - he won't be of aid for several more years. Have weaponry to equip groups of defensive minions along with spearmen. Gears of War are turnin'...

Winter 184 AC

The long awaited day has arrived... Sowien, wanting to be closer to her future King, has declared war. Very well. Relations are also hostile with the Shadows. This could widen to a 2-3 front war rather quickly. Skeleton minions, arise, our conquering begins now!

Spring 186 AC

The Shadows joined the war on the side of the Elves. Tis not difficult to juggle one ball, yet alone two. I tire of this diplomatic dance anyway... have you ever danced with a shadow or elf in the pale moonlight? I ask that of all my prey...

Turn 110 - FP 67. Highest are Greenskin at 162, lowest are Centaurs at 53. Pushing east with Skeleton King - found our first target, the Elven Conclave of Alberich. It is weakly defended, will be moving in for the kill. The Greenskin declared war on the Shadows which is good for me. The Shadows are between me and the Greenskin, thus I'm hopeful Shadow's units will be kept busy. There is a stack of rampaging Ophidians on the western front but nothing I can do about them now. They are threatening a remote outpost but not any cities as of yet. Save.

Summer 186 AC

War with two factions. I'm leaving Skrymir in charge of home defense and will be pushing east. Skrymir must defend the southern border with the troops I've given him. Ideally the Greenskin will keep the Shadows busy. On the other hand, the Elven border looks ripe for the taking. Sowien, darlin', I'm coming for you.

Winter 186 AC

Like a hot undead knife through elven butter... Alberich is mine. Haste on myself, Contagion on the enemy, self-repair from Tear of Cyndrum, and some salted pork (I mean fish, err chicken) led to a victory. 15 souls were shackled and sent to Gravehold. They will feed my new minions. Far to the south Sowien is sending a 6 stack army towards the fortress of Eajir... Skrymir is marshalling the defenses.

Turn 120 - FP 89. Highest are Greenskin at 178. Surprisingly, after I took the first Conclave the next city after that was a Fortress... and it's well protected. A stalemate of sorts exists on the eastern front. Down south, defenses were bolstered and Eajir is now a fortress with castle walls. 5 city militia, 2 archers, and 8 overland units defending. Western front is quiet... focus the next 10 turns is to continue to train more troops, hold the line down south, and see if I can press my campaign up north. Became an ally with the Golems. Since they border the Elves too, thought it was prudent to get some help there. Long-term may need it against the Greenskin. Save.

Winter 188 AC

I see you there across the border. Confident you can hold off my undead tide. Nay, my Queen, I will destroy your old form and grant you anew. We will rule together as immortals, the power of life and death to share as one. Once you capitulate, you will be Eternally Resurrected. I have patience, do you?

So you Shadows thought they could sneak up from the southwest, eh? With you personally and your wolf-man Ankis? Do you feel the cold seeping into your bones? A little freeze hurts no one. Skrymir will meet you on the field of battle. Edror, had you not heard Elven blood was smeared over the walls of Eajir? You doubt my strength and wits? Elven blood is being spilt in the north and the south. Now to Shadow Blood in the west. You will be assimilated.

Orkoth is brave, I'll give him that. But very, very stupid... leaving his city walls and then taunting the Skeleton King to engage in a one on one battle of honor. Honor is impractical, might makes right. I think I'll teach that lesson to you right now.
