[eMOD] Improved Faction Colors v. 5 for FE 1.20

Improved Faction Colors v. 5

Download (FE Nexus)

This mod improves the distinctness of the 'vanilla' faction colors for Fallen Enchantress.  Tarth, Resoln, Umber, Capitar, and Wildlands ZoC colors have been changed for better UI visibility.

***Changelog and Upcoming Changes***

v. 5 Changes:
+ Added new faction colors for Capitar and Umber.  Capitar is more lavender and Umber is more brownish orange.

v. 1 changes:
+ Changed Resoln faction color to a more intense blue to help differentiate from Pariden's faction color

v. 2 changes:
+ Removed the blue hue from the Tarth faction color
+ Darkened and added more blue to the Wildlands Player color

v. 3 Changes:
+ Made the mod modular by splitting up each faction color and crest into it's own XML file
+ Included alternate faction crest for Tarth and Resoln to more accurately reflect IFC colors

v.4 Changes:

Now compatible with ev4debug's Mod Manager

***Download, Installation, and Management***

Simply download the .zip file via the supplied link.  Unzip the file directly into your mydocuments/mygames/fallenenchantress/mods folder.

Turn Mods on in game options.

When updating versions it's highly recommended that you delete all previous versions of the mod before installing the newest version.

This mod is now modular, meaning you can leave out the components you don't want.

To remove a mod component, open up the mods folder (path above) then open the IFC folder.  There should be several .xml files located in here which are associated with the different elements of the mod.  Just delete what you don't want.

If you have questions about this, feel free to ask in this thread.

 Enjoy!

Fellow modders: please feel free to include this work in your mods.

The download link won't work until it's been approved.

I really like that colour for them, is it easy to see on the world map though?

Do you mean the cloth map?  Not sure about that.

Here's a cloth map look.

When this is downloadable I'll give it a whirl =)

Cool! Not sure how long it takes for them to unlock it.  Maybe I'll find another service as well.

a comparison pic in the OP would be good, overall this is one of those "why isn't this in the game already?" files. hopefully it gets included in a patch :D

Comparison to the original Resoln color or the Pariden color?

original, but yeah a pic of Pariden would also be good to have since it's modded in relation to it.

Added pics of original Resoln to OP.

If anyone gets a good screenie of New Resoln alongside Pariden please post!

Along the same lines, capitar and magnar are pretty similar purples, and umber and kraxis are similar oranges. Do you think you could tweak the colors for them? I'd DL this mod yesterday if those 3 changes were made.

The only other colors I may take a look at are the wildlands vs tarth.

Any feedback?

I like icecream... oh not that kind of feedback?

Gonna take a look at it, wonder if it works with Seans mod :S

I don't see why it shouldn't.  It basically changes one line of code.

But that's a secret, so don't tell anyone.

Nice mod but it shouldn't be a mod; I.e, stardock shoudl 'fix' the base game.

Well, do you have an installer changing the line of code, or are you going in and changing it by replacing the file, because if sean is trying to replace that particular file, and you are too, it wont work....
Whatever, hope that made sense

I agree.  As I've already hounded them about faction colors (to some avail - magnar and kraxis got fixed) I feel like the only further action is to mod the rest of the changes i would like to see.

If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work.  If he wants to copy and paste these numbers into his code to include in his mod, then that's just fine with me.

I'm not going to worry about inter-mod compatibility in this case. I feel like I made this is as modular as it can possibly be.

This mod is more about altering the vanilla experience.

If seanw3 is modding the installation file only, and you are coming from /mods/ this will take priority.

Tinkering with the color of Tarth.  In this screenie you can see my new test tarth color (middle) near the wildland color (bottom.)

What do y'all think?  What would you prefer, color-wise?

I actually really like the wildland color - I wish that tarth had that, and that the wildlands were something more hazardous (i.e. yellow and black hazard symbol, or skulls with a red background).    Can we make the borders two colors I wonder?   That would solve a lot of issues.   One for the line, One for the glow.

edit:  I should say that given the current circumstances, I like the new tarth color, it is distinct enough from the wildlands.
