How is experience calculated?

Hi guys,

Could you explain how experience from killing a monster pack is calculated and split between the members of an army?

For example an army composed from

sovereign with the following skills

general

knowledge

trainer 2

hero with following skills:

knowledge

trainer 1

2 spiders

1 demon

The army defeated gives 10 experience.

Are there any experience penalties from having more than 1 hero in an army?

is the amount of experience needed for a hero/unit to reach next level displayed somewhere in interface?

used to be, all champs divided the xperience equally. Before that, everyone got the same experience.

Right now it looks like champs have a higher tendency to gain exp than soldiers (which I like btw), and sovereigns have a slightly higher tendency still).

In fact, forever I had been travelling with Sov+champ, but then recently I kept the champ in a newly conquered city. So I had a Sov + large army facing off against a very powerful (neutral, fire-beast army) foe. Well, my level 10 sov became level 12 after just that one battle ;)

I think each extra Champion or Sov in an army halves the experience, and non-champion units get about 1/4 (or maybe 1/2) of the base experience a champion gets.  But others are invited to chip in with more exact details. =)

My understanding was that champions share/split xp with each other and units share/split xp with each other.  The idea being that you don't want to many champs in one army.

It goes with the formula

If you have M champions and the battle gives you X experience then your experience goes as such

Each champion / sovereign gets --- (X / M) xp

Each Troop (non champion / sovereign) gets --- (X / M) * .5 xp

After this is given out the bonuses like training or potential is calculated with their appropriate number to the troop involved.

Champions share XP with each other, i.e having two in a party grants them only halve the XP. Regular units get halve of the XP the champion would get. XP increasing traits stack with each other. If they are from different sources (e.x., two champions with Trainer), they also stack. Bonus XP gets applied after the XP has been split. Using your example the XP calculation would look like this:

Sovereign: 5 base XP * 1.85 (1 +0.25(General) +0.25 (Knowledge) +0.25(Trainer II) +0.10(Trainer I)) = 9.25XP

The champion gets the same amount as the sovereign in this case

The units: 2.5 base XP * 1.60 (1 +.25(General) +0.25(Trainer II) +0.10(Trainer I)) = 4XP

I don't know how rounding works in the game, but, assuming it rounds down at the end of the calculation, your sovereign and the champion would get 9XP each, while the spiders and the demon get 4XP.

Thx a lot for the information guys.

So in theory it could be worth stacking champions if all or most of them have trainer.

Do you know if the current experience or the experience needed to reach next lvl  is shown anywhere ?

I'm trying to find out how much xp is needed for every lvl and what's the progression. Is it linear or it turns into a  steep curve?

It is shown in game by hovering over the XP bar. As far as a table showing level points, don't think I've seen one.

No problem.

Yes, but only if you use two or three. The more champions, the less the base XP. If you are playing Altar, however, you can train Henchmen. They work similar to champions, but count as regular units for XP-splitting purposes.

You can find the XP-bar to the right side of the HP value, if you select a unit.

It is a curve, but I don't know the specifics.
