An update on my quest for free screen recorders

In a previous post, I requested help finding a free screen recorder so that I could record tutorial videos for Elemental:  Fallen Enchantress.  I've been trying to experiment with now 3 different screen capture programs including CamStudio, WinCapture Editor and now Microsoft Expression Encoder.  I tried CamStudio first, and the result was terrible with only about 1 frame per second of video output, way too jarring.  I had issues with WinCapture as well, then tried going back to CamStudio after seeing a couple YouTube videos on how to tweak it.  I managed to get CamStudio up to about 16 FPS with an aging codec called Huffuv, and started to realize my aging computer (a Phenom II 9600 quad-core with an AMD/ATi Radeon 4850 graphics card with a half gig of video RAM and 4 GB of system RAM) was probably the limitation.

I've been seeking codecs that are better at generating higher FPSes when I heard about Microsoft's Expression Encoder.  I just downloaded and gave it a test, and a bit to my surprise, the early results are gorgeous with a nearly 30 FPS result on my aging system, although the post-processing of the video is taking a significant amount of time.
