Able to load Elementerra maps (but some issues)

If anyone is curious, I was actually able to load up elementerra generated maps when playing a new game. I was also able to load them up in the Cartographer tools, but there are some issues with both. This is using the first elementerra, not elementerra 2, which does not work. The maps generated do not have any of the new stuff that FE has though, most importantly grain, essence and production. Those would have to be placed in the Cartographers tools but whenever I tried to save the map, it would save it as a completely different tiny map. Maybe because the maps I was making were too large.

Perhaps someone who has the skills could fix up Elementerra to be able to use all the new stuff and get it working properly with FE.

Wasn't elementerra heavily moddable? You should take a look in its install dir. Maybe cephalo will do an updated version with rivers, chasms and wildlands.

As far as I know, Cephalo never provided the source.  I even sent him a PM some months back asking him about it but I got no reply.  If anyone knows how to contact him ask him about releasing the source.  I'd love to take up the project and have the skills to do it.

Elementerra works fine.  All of those things mentioned above, except rivers, are randomly added to the map when you start a game.  I generally only use  Elementerra maps though I do tweek them a bit before I play them.

That isn't true. I loaded up a map created by Elementerra and it does not add in grain, essence, materials, etc. Unless I am doing something wrong.

Or perhaps the maps I am creating are too large

Yeah, keep trying but it wont work. I also can't edit the maps and save them because when I save the map and then try to load it up, it does not load the Elementerra map and just makes a new random map.

let's hope he creates Elementerra 3 soon :D

Okay, I figured out how to get it to work. Need to manually place rivers though. Also, with very large maps, need to change the density of shards and resources. Even with dense magic and dense resources, with large maps it may be hard to find them.

Like I said, the resources are added randomly when the game is started.  Likewise so are Champions, Shards and Wildlands.  FYI: if you prefer to locate the Wildlands yourself, you can add them to an Elementerra map by using the Stamps then set "Wildlands" to None at game setup.

As I recall, Cephlon was frustrated that adding the resources randomly at start could not be turned off so he was stuck not adding them at all within Elementerra.  Though you can add some yourself in the Cartagrapher's Table.  Just keep in mind that more will be added at game start.  Perhaps you can add some manually in Cartographer's Table and set resources to "Sparse".

Not likely since he's not been seen on these forums for more than a year though I would love to see him return.

Yes, I know that Aerion, my problem was not that resources were being placed automatically, which I knew, but that the world is created with all barren land so there was no grain, materials or essence. So what you have to do is go into the map creator, load up the map and add in fallen or fertile environments so that grain and such will appear.
