[0.992][Bug] City Defenders

I cannot recall the thread that was discussing this last, but there was a concern raised that city defenders did not respawn for a second attack on the same turn.

This is most certainly not the case.

In fact, not only do they stick around for the duration of the turn, but they instantly heal as if they never had combat the first time; rising from the DEAD and everything!

This is a MAJOR concern as citys now have an unlimited number of defenders.

Imo, the militia, archers, and catapults that have received damage or have been killed should NOT heal/respawn until the end of turn.

It's a spotty bug. Can't tell when it will happen, but it still does now and then. City defense should not be a matter of wearing your opponent down. Each battle should have the city at full strength, except for the garrison, which can be weakened and destroyed. These battles happen over several months. A militia can be raised in that span of time.

Except that the only way to crack through now is by use of a hero force.

I trained 3 armies of troops to lead the way and 'soften' a city up. But because they're new recruits, they pale in comparison to the stationed militia. It's crashing waves against the shoreline.

If the game is meant to represent 'several monthes' as a mechanic, then they should also be 'sieged' if an enemy is adjacent to them.

Still think that even the militia should wear down....else the population should decrease. 1 militia lost = 10 pop or something like that.

If you only have 3 units, you are not ready to siege a city. That is kind of the point.

Not 3 units.

3 armies.

That's 7*3 = 21 units. Mix of horsemen, defenders, and archers.

Following that is my hero force: 2 heroes, 2 archers, sand golem, and 2 defenders.

Problem is that, besides my 2 heroes, everything is fresh off the line and can't stand up against the 3 milita, 2 archers, 1 hero, 1 wounded hero, 1 defender and 1 catapult.

Only the Defender can be permanently destroyed. All others respawn to full HP for each battle (the heros don't obvious get hp back, but all they need is one hit to knock out one of my troops).

I don't know if this is the right place to ask...but when your city wins a battle, your defending troops gain XP too...where is that XP going to?
