[0.992] [Suggestion] When Sovereign's Fall

Being able to obtain an enemy Sovereign as a hero only SOME of the time is really quite frusterating.

In my current game, I have destroyed declared war on Ceresa...destroyed her last city....waited the 10 turns to talk to her...demanded her surrender....and NOTHING.

I can't have her surrender to me. She refuses to. So now, because of a random AI decision, I lose out of another hero.

I recommend that enemy Sovereigns be able to join you through 3 different ways.

  1. Surrenders. This is already in place (or so I thought), but it obviously sparadic at best. When surrendering, the negative trait is given (which is really cool).
  2. Captured. If forced into a final confrontation with no city to escape to, the sovereign should be captured at end of combat, This should give a different negative trait, but you should still have the sovereign as a hero.
  3. Resigning. Sometimes Sovereign's quit (for whatever reason). These stand around and should be able to be hired on as new heroes. A different negative trait should be attached to these new heroes aswell.

Are we able to squeeze in this very small feature into the final release??? please??

I do not believe that we are entitled to recruiting enemy sovereigns upon their defeat.  It's a nice bonus when they decide to surrender, but I get the feeling that most would rather die than bend knee to another channeler.  Kinda like how IRL, rulers not democratically elected usually only pass on the crown upon their death (peaceful or not).

When we can't recruit them, what if we could put them on display in a cage and lower the unrest of a city by a lot?

Sovereign's head on a pike would be a nice thing.

You defeat a sovereign and that kills them, you get their head, which you can place in a city and get an unrest reduction in that city and a prestige/growth bonus.

Lord Verga should never surrender. Death is better than servitude.

That should be exactly what he should say when you ask him to surrender.

Absolutely.  Same for Late Irane.

Nothing wrong with getting a head on a pike when you defeat a sovereign, though.  Especially not for Empires. As for Kingdoms, one could receive a statue that can be erected in one of the cities with somewhat similar, but lore appropriate effects.
