[992] Can't install, file corrupt

Well, I decided to reinstall the beta and see how things are shaping so close to the release date, regretfully the full install file is giving me a corrupt error, tried downloading it thrice, so I think it might have to do with the file in the stardock servers and not something in the download process. just wanted to let you all know.

I had the same problem, finally I went to stardock.com and downloaded it there through http. I suspect stardock central uses some protocol which is prone to mistakes in large files (it could be ftp based). I am saying it, because I have the same problem when I use ftp services on very large files. This is repeatable on two computers through my router (desktop and laptop). Funny thing, if I connect through wifi, there is no such problem, only I have problem if I connect through physical wire. May be wifi has extra ways to correct errors.

Ya, SDC is still in beta right? I get registry errors from updating FE there. Better to go the site and hope for a working install. I posted about install issues, which is all we can do as a beta tester. It's up to them to make sure the customers are getting good copies of the game they just spent 2 years fixing.

Actually I've been downloading it though the https, tried using a manager as well, no luck :S

I am having the same problem. Every time I try to download the file it says that it is corrupt. I hope it gets fixed soon.

You can just keep downloading it until you get the un-corrupted version. Yeah, I know, it's not a "solution", but it'll get you the game.

If SDC is being a problem, you can also get it via http://download.stardock.com

Actually my only attempts so far has been though the http, (the download manager for some reason doesn't give me the option of downloading FE) given that it always marks the corruption error at 96% (when the file is extracting itself), I am starting to think the issue is with the file in the servers...

I've had no problems in downloading this file each time its been up. Maybe it has to do with the internet connection. The only way to determine this though is to go to another location to download the file. But I'm just speculating and don't really know everything you have tried to get the file. There are other download managers that help prevent these download corruptions that you might look into, but I can't say for sure.

I am using DAP

Have you tried without using DAP?

A normal copy of Internet Explorer should download the file just fine.

I've tried DAP and Firefox, will try in explorer now, if nothing else seems to be working :S

Chrome has a 50% success rate.

What's the file size of the completed (corrupted) download? Should be 3,217,279,519 bytes for 0.992.

If you still have a bad copy of the file, grab the download from http://www.winmd5.com/ and check the md5 of it to see if there was corruption in transfer vs something happening when the self-extractor wrapper is running (which then kicks off the .exe for the install). Should be 0db9c530a846752a71a0c636fe828764.

Stardock Central is checking the md5 of every 100MB chunk as it downloads it, so that should be accounting anything in the download path. It's using straight up http.

I got 3,217,281,024 and as for checksum I got 74a4def048c5c04927f6a2b209a3eba2... so something is happening in Download, aye?

Any advice?
