Stardock should release the final product to beta testers for approval before release.

I think there are many polish issues that could hurt initial reviews of the game as it stands if not resolved before release.  I wish stardock would release the final version to the beta community for approval BEFORE release.  There could be a survey of the beta community asking whether it is ready or not and if a majority approve, THEN a release date should be set.  I'm saying this as an ardent stardock fan.  I bought the collectors edition of WOM before release and would do the same with WOM:FE even before release as I really like stardock.  I don't want to go on a tirade of the polish issues as I've already posted things I've seen or have seen others post them, but I just don't think it's ready polish wise.  The balance issues can be fixed AFTER release as a majority of players wont notice those right off the bat, but the polish issues will be noticed...especially be reviewers!

It is mindlessly simple. There is an AI value tag for each spell. As long as the spell uses the same targets as other spells, the AI can cast them. Increasing the value to very high levels increases the AI's likelihood of choosing a given spell. The hardest spells to get the AI to use are just ones that have not been fully implemented for the AI. Like a strategic damage spell.

I do find it strange that so little of the magic system focuses on the strategic game. I guess it is hard to get the AI to effectively strategize when to cast a fiery pillar or freezing cloud. Hopefully we can eventually get an AI algorithm that casts those spells and then attacks on the same turn like a human.

I sure hope they're not going to release (in 3 days) with the AI still unable to cast strategic damage spells effectively nearly 2 years after the release of WOM?

In MOM as bad as the AI was, they used strategic level spells...

Ya, I wish that could have been prioritized. It's really odd that it didn't get fixed.

As mentioned before on the forums, there's no real reason to use Lady Porcupine.

Which proves nothing.

It certainly doesn't prove that negative traits are inherently bad.  Just because people don't like to play Pariden doesn't mean that negative traits in and of themselves are the cause.  Your conclusion doesn't follow from your premise.

People not liking to play Pariden could be a number of things.  People just don't like the faction play style.  People don't like the flavor.  Or, I suspect, people feel that the faction is TOO under-powered when you account for all its traits, both negative and positive.  Even that doesn't mean that negative traits are bad.  It means that Pariden is poorly designed.

Uhh yeah so I guarantee you this gets changed once the game is released and Stardock is out of the echo chamber it's currently in. Thanks!

If MOM came out today, it would get savaged.

No it wouldn't have.

Hahaha please tell me this isn't true.

I have been thinking about making a thread encouraging people to buy this game on a board I frequent but I don't want to embarass myself if something like that is true.

Wait for reviews, release, and your own playing before starting a promotional thread. Anything else is irresponsible.
