Noob question #1: What to do when your starting cap is destroyed?

Hello,

I'm a beginner at playing sins and I would to get your help on certain strategy and mp

problems in the game.

My question,

A. What do you do if your starting cap ship is destroyed early in a mp game like 4's

or 5's? Do you rebuild the exact same cap ship that was destroyed or do you try another

type of cap ship. If not another cap ship, do you fill in the extra fleet supply with any specific frigates

and/or cruisers.

B. What do you do if you scuttle your Cap ship factory and your cap ship was destroyed early in a mp game?

Thank you for your patience. My mp name is industrial.

A. Build another one. As for the type it depends on where I am at. Still colonizing? Then build the Colonizer cap. Met the enemy and are attempting to stop him? That varies with race.

B. Rebuild the cap factory if you wish.

By itself losing your cap ship doesn't mean anything in terms of what strategy you should use. If you lost the cap ship but are winning the war it's going to be a very different scenario than losing it at a battle for your homeworld.

Likewise, I wouldn't treat having to rebuild a capship any different than choosing a new one.

That said as you say you're new, I'm going to assume you're losing in this situation. In this case you definitely want to have a colony capitalship alive at all times so you can migrate towards the center of the map and/or towards the center of the maps so you can try and restart your Empire. Even a newb is better than an AI, just keep moving until you can find a few planets for some breathing space and then join up with a bigger allied fleet and try to help them. It close games successfully relocating can be game winning, and without a colony capitalship it will be difficult to flee far enough.

It completely depends on what your enemy lost in the process and where the game is at. Generally though, if you need to rebuild cap ship and cap factory, it isn't worth it unless you lost your colonizer cap in the eco spot due to talking on the phone while militia heavies abuse you. Early game with the enemy cap near you level 1 or 2 still, it might be worth rebuying. Mid game, better to leave it as one less capital ship supply slot in teching for a Titan.
