[.983 Bug] Fire elemental costing me mana, yet he's been dead for yonks

I lost my fire elemental in a battle.  A while later I was wondering why my mana wasn't building up very fast, so I went to the enchantments window.  He was still showing up there and costing me 2 mana a turn.

Here's a screen shot of the enchantments window:

And my current units:

It cleans up at the end of the turn (before you are charged for that mana).  We dont want to recalculate global resources each time a unit dies, but it does create a case where you can see the maintenance in there until the next turn.

Im unable to reproduce any issue where it stays around outside of that short time frame.

Hmmm... well I know he had died a while back.  Should have kept my save game.

If it helps, I think I summoned him right before I attacked a city.  He died in that battle, but I took the city.  So he was summoned and died in the same turn, would that have anything to do with it?

I'll try and reproduce.

Hi Derek, I found the problem.  Like you said, the fire elemental stays in your enchantments until the next turn.  If your fire elemental dies, and you save the game in that same turn just after the battle, reload the save game, he stays in your enchantments forever.

Really good bug finding! :D

Bonus points for Ausland! Does he get a pony, too?

I'd like mine to be blue and breathing fire.  Thanks!

Might as well ask for a hippogriff... adds flying and looks cooler when you ride it.

Or a pegasus at the very least ;)

Nah go for a lady centaur. What could be better than a mount with benefits?

Please ensure that all variables which update upon the crossing of a turn are accounted for in saved games.  An oversight in a "multi-threaded" process of this nature will create bugs as the software evolves.
