Need someone to help me out with my multiplayer game.

Hello,

I am looking for someone to show me the ropes in multiplayer game. I play a lot of comp stomp 2 vs 3-4 vicious AI, but I want to try playing against human.

I am having a hard time finding someone to help me as no one wants to be on the same team as a "noob" in a 2 v 2. I have been playing sins for a while now, but in single player mode and I find that single player strategy does not work that well in multiplayer games. However, I do find playing with human more fun as AI cheats a lot. I am a good team player( I would think), so if anyone is so kind as to play a few match with me and share some tips? I have quite a lot of questions as I played a few FFA today and didn't really do that well. Just leave your steam ID and I will add you.

I would recommend getting in some game lobby's and explain your situation, asking if anyone wanted to team, and help you in a comp stomp to give critique.  Then make yourself known by getting into skilled games and, again, explain your situation.  Folks will more and more regard you as serious about improving your game to play in more skilled games.

Also, you could try hosting a game with a name like, "noob needs help" or the like.  You might be surprised how many are willing to help someone with a good attitude.

Phiroxodaz, when you launch the game, click on ico button (2nd one down) to join multiplayer servers.

Good luck and Welcome!

What version of the game are you playing?  Original Sins, Entrenchment, Diplomacy, or Rebellion?  If it's Rebellion you simply click "Ironclad Online" (as long as you have Steam up and running) and there you go.  For the earlier versions you also click Ironclad Online but need to create an account with a password first.  There aren't too many people left playing the earlier versions online though; the action is on Rebellion.

I agree that it's confusing.  The "Multiplayer" button is really for setting up LAN/direct connect to IP games.

Slackah had good advice.  Be gracious and friendly and accept your "nooby lumps".  Unfortunately this is a tough game to break into for online multiplayer PvP because most of the PvP people have been playing it PvP for a long time and almost all of the new people only play comp stomps with their friends (when they could be playing against each other instead).  It is kind of sad to see multiple groups of friends going against the AI when they could be challenging similar groups.

Most of the online PvP action is in 5v5 and 4v4 games.  I think people like them better since one single battle won't determine the entire outcome of a game and you can still find ways to help your team even if you personally are losing--your team itself can still win.  Oftentimes, especially at times when fewer PvP players are around, we need people to join and fill the games--that's your best bet.  You probably won't feel very welcome (nor particularly want to play in) games with the tag "skilled" in the title.
