Status of the Live Action TV show?

Yarlen,

I'm curious as the response you got from HBO about making a 1 hour live action TV series based off of Sins of a Solar Empire? Is Showtime a possibility?

Too bad there's no sign other than this thread that it exists. :troll:

Also I think they'd mostly need Ironclad's permission, not Stardocks, unless they secured the right to publish not just games. ;)

I apologize, I have no factual basis for this topic other than the factual basis that this idea is too damn amazing not to have happened. You played a good game Yarlen, I'll give you that but don't bullshit a bullshitter. We all know this has been your secret dream project for the past 11 years.

Putting the obvious troll :troll: aside, if something like this were to be theoretically successful, it should not follow the 'Battlestar Galactica' format of character & plot 'development'. StarGate tried to go that route with it's latest series as did TerraNova and they flopped hard because there was no back-bone substance other than the aforementioned 'development' that was ripped free from the BSG series. To be successful and truly be worth it to the viewers, in my mind it would have to be similar to the route that Babylon 5 took in that after characters were finished being introduced and the story setting was setup (halfway through season one) the story actually develops and moves forward in a compelling manner.

So, for SoaSE:TV to be successful, it must emulate B5 (Seasons 1.5-4.5). My math is irrefutable! :cylon:

Am I the only one that's worried the risk of such a series would either bomb and ruin Sins' good name or hijack what little story there is? Granted I don't watch TV, so I wouldn't care too much even if it was awesome. ;P

What is there to screw up/hijack story wise? No offense to Starclad, but we have a slightly generic Capitalist Humans get beaten up by Aliens, fight back, then get backstabbed by ancient foe, leading to three-way slapfest. Plenty of room for Starclad to add in some detail, backstory, whatever.

Exactly, it's still virgin and pure. If you let those TV writers get to it who knows what sort of ways they can screw up an undetailed but interesting universe.

The handsome Vasari warrior placed his sharply taloned hands around the voluptuous Advent acolyte's curvy waist.  "I...I shouldn't!", she stammered--yet despite the keening wail of the Unity something in her yearned for  more.

"Trust me curvy, soft human female"...rasped the now flushed Vasari commander.."Once you've had backward legs, you never go back!".

"Oh, K'graak!...take me now!", said the psintigrat as she simultaneously took control of his mind.  One way or the other, she was getting what she wanted.

I dunno, it might work really well

I believe the OP said "live action", not a televised version of 50 shades of grey... 8C

who ever is going to write the script for this they better make sure im one of their main star since i can perform z axis maneuver and show how useful the vacuum of space can be for tactical awareness and tactical exploitations.

tbh i think the writer should have a great knowledge of this game and or have to be an original sins community player. i would have 4 part series. tec series which leads to expelling the early advent culture, then the return of advent that begins inside trade tec sector. finally the vasari empire series from migratory episode reaching toward trader space encountering advent and tec all at the same time merging to a great epic battle for survival.

then episode 4 will be the introduction of the 4th race that are chasing the ancient vasari empire. who knows, they maybe able to unlock another race that created phase jump inhibitor that was left scattered all over the galaxy. then i would be the star fleet command that controls 1titan 5capitalship with 1 being akkan and marza with the power of missle barrage ability. i would be making decisions on how where when and what to engage, attack, regroup or submit to diplomatic solutions while performing z axis with my perchelon carrier fleets

All things considered ... it would probably be a hit.

Probably. Just put enough unnecessary humping and boobs and there and it'll be a hit (See: Game of Thrones (no offense to those who enjoy it, I know there's more to it than just that, but I still wanted to make the joke :p)).

The unnecessary humping and boobs is in the books, Martin's a pervy old man.

Better make sure there aren't any Vasari Saboteurs in your closet Boshimi, you don't want her to get ideas. ;P

I'm not surprised the Sinperium has turned into low grade sexual humor to try and beat zombie in the karma war. I am surprised that it is working here on the Sins forum of all places. 8C

Why my dear GoaFan, they don't call me 'Mr. Vasari, master of agrarian societies through superior technology and firepower' for nothing!

You know, now that you mention it, I don't remember you ever not using Vasari. 8(|

Eh, I've played the other races. TEC can be fun sometimes but I like to take things ponderously slow ... on slow settings ... so the Vasari work out well. :D

Can I play the part of the male advent progenitor?

muahahahah!

'They hugged in delight as their first egg was laid...the joy of triumphant parenthood despite all odds thrown against them by their disparate racial biologies."

Still blinking back bile of joy and conquest, it was then K'graak looked a bit more closely and thought...

"Wait a minute--those are not my spot patterns...".
