[suggestion] "+X gildar" effects/buildings should be "up to +X gildar"

This has been bothering me ever since .981 came out, the fact that you don't actually gain as much money from that Merchant you just built as it says you will.  I know why that is, and actually approve of the taxation changes, but on the other hand, if I were a new player just starting my first game of FE, I probably would be very confused why my buildings and enchantments aren't giving me the money they say the do.

Agreed with the tax changes to the game. A shame that we can't dynamically produce the tool tip with respect to the current tax rate.

Maybe it's the assistant tax consultant in me speaking, but I think "Increases the income of the city by +X" would be a perfectly accurate description. Remember, you are using an income tax to get money from the cities.

While that is a totally accurate description, Gaunathor, it's pretty wordy to fit in that tiny little description space.  The main message I want to come across is that you won't necessarily be earning as much as that little number says.  It caught me off guard at first to see all the +X bonuses with no corresponding boost in income, having not initially realized the tax changes.

I for one agree's with this, the current tooltip on the merchant is kind of misleading.

we updated the gildar tool-tip on actual cities to try and better show this distinction, however, it sounds like for you guys it hasn't been enough :( Maybe I just need to add a note on all + flat gildar building descriptions saying something like "This income is reduced based on your tax rate."

I think saying just "up to" is enough. I mean it is really obvious that tax affects your income of gildar.

I don't think that wording works for the layout of our tool-tips, we want to keep all numerical information in line together column wise (it makes it much easier for players to read) so adding two words in front of the numbers wouldn't work...  I could add it to the descriptions, however, even then we are trying to go away from explicit numbers in our improvement descriptions. It avoids redundant information (since the numbers are above anyways) and makes them not have to be updated every time we tweak a number a little bit.

So long story short: I like what you guys are saying but need to think of a different way to say it ;)

How about "Increases taxable income by +X"?

I see the issue and currently the tutorial would need to at least tell new players that this is the way it is represented. Once we understood this the system it works just fine. But if players do not take the tutorial then at least a load screen reading telling the player would be great. But we don't want to overload the system on these things.

I would go for "+2 gildar to city income."

The generic point of taxes makes sense as you take a percentage off the city income. Of course I'm just throwing out ideas.

I like this, however, I think it might make it even more confusing to brand new players (taxable income being more of an economics term).  I'm talking to Derek and we will see what we end up with... Also worth noting there are multiple different formats this info could be displayed in potentially.

In the build menu the tool-tips are arranged "(Bonus Name)              +5->+10"

While in research and other general improvement tool-tip spots it's "+10 (Bonus Name)"

Which makes sense because of the change in context of what you are looking at but makes universal text a little trickier. Also it really needs to say "Gildar" on the label somewhere imo
