modding ideas for warriors

i need some idea here since anyway i started changing a bit the classes and now i miss warriors

 

the problems i need to solve:

-give an use to warriors when the opponent hit very hard in melee(ofc every class has their counters and i accept it, but generally speaking everything hit quite hard in melee)

-i cant make them sneaky because thats how i made assassins, hit and run, dodge, skills with short duration resistance etc

-i have to make them less though that defenders ofc so wouldnt want to give them defensive skills

so what to do ? i cant find an adequate spot for their role

 

throw me your ideas!

quick, filled with tactical combat maneuvers (The ones from the defender tree's come to mind, reducing movement, stunning, meaby some sweep for area damage).

Just the first idea off the top of my head.

Warriors also naturally fill the role of combat commanders. A warrior survives by boosting the health of friendly units, or stuff like that.

well some active skill with crowd control effect cant hurt but i dont want to exaggerate with them, moving stun on warrior is an option maybe

 

as for buffing i already made a subclass commander for the defender path providing army improvements and moved there all stuff like that

 

maybe i could differentiate giving the defensive army buffs to commander and the offensive ones to warrior, dunno

or maybe some army debuff for enemies

 

good ideas but need something more!

See if you can steal something from seanw3's balance mod. Some great path ideas there. And he did say for people to cannibalize it.

he gave a lot of aoe (unsure about this, seems too strong to have high dmg as warriors should have AND aoe, but i could lower the dmg a bit)

many counterattacks (this i like, when you get hit instead of taking less dmg like a defender you hit harder :D , kongdej may cry, ill probably add 1 counter to warriors, not more though)

flurry is interesting, but too exploitable giving real turns ( if it doesnt give turns then its just a stronger dbl attack ) but as it is could make warriors fight in a rush of rage and then go back into position(or move out) i have to think about this

path of the swashman is too much roguish, i dont want warriors like that, but crack armor is very nice, ill surely make something similar

I would think "Paladin" when designing a warrior. Dual Wielding could also be something usable only by warriors.

One of the better ways to make each Path/Class unique would be to restrict weapon or armor types. Unfortunately, as FE stands now, that is difficult or impossible to do right.  In my opinion (for what it's worth) assassins should not be able to wear any metal armor. Mages should not be able to wear even leather.  Only defenders or warriors should be able to use chain or plate armor.  I would think of shields as being either a defender or maybe assassin tool.   In my games and mods, I tend to use the assassin path just for archers or late game as a second class for defenders (because of the dodge line).

yes paladin class did strike my mind but most of the common skills are not doable afaik (combat resurrect, magic shields, there are no undead (and few demons to make something holy worth it) auras are already in game)

 

also i was thinking of real dualclasses (nothing fancy, just a couple of skills for all those stupid multipath champions) so paladin could be mage +warrior dunno

as for restrict i made something similar

i gave armor proficiencies to classes :D

so instead of being unable to use other stuff they are just much better off using their appropriate one (defender +1 def for each plate piece, assa +1 dodge for each leather etc)

 

the problem is the usual, unless ai gets improved  with specific (and moddable) guidelines all the content we add is raped by the inability of ai to use it :(

 

but since ai cant use properly anything vanilla at least i have more fun playing :P
