gamebreaking autoresolve bug

after reading this thread

https://forums.elementalgame.com/432674

i paid attention to ai combats and i have to say this is dramatically true

being an autoresolve ai can win ALL fights against magic stuff with 0 effort (or lose them all if ai is a magical type against warriors but usually it isnt)

i saw ai killing a dark wizard at lvl 3, wiping totally tons of elementals shrills etc

this also ofc works for players, i tried with my irane lvl 4 a normal combat with a dark wizard and i die in 2 turns without even touching him , i tried autoresolve and i won...

this is really huge

yes but i had no idea it was this bad

also i didnt know it was so buggy for ai too

1 thing is player wants to save some time and so press autoresolve, not using spells maybe its fine beucase that feature is used mostly to fight 1 wolf or stuff like that

but when it comes to ai fights it screws EVERYTHING i dont know why we are even talking about balance when ai can farm the whole battlefield without even remotely having the strength to do so

now i understand ppl complaining that they find sometimes enemy sov with incredibly high lvl etc, those sov just luck happening to be close to creatures whose strenght is mostly magic or skills they can just free farm them and gg

this issue its really huge

This would explain a lot about the ai. Hope one of the dev's see this and determine if things are working the way you suggest. Because if it is I totally agree and it appears that you may be right.

which means inflated xp values that people didn't earn and champs/ Sovs are way higher level than they should be ?

yes exactly, there is another problem here but its minor

combat ratings arent all balanced, so some monsters are seen as way weaker than they really are

ai shouldnt even try to attack a dark wizard in the first place, this is another issue but its easy to fix

but then, once ai attacks this monster it sees as doable he SHOULDNT be able to kill them

but ais can instead kill them np like said above, so yes, ai sovs get A LOT of undeserved xp also emptying the map for us players since unless we cheat too with autoresolve we arent able to kill everything at their speed

as a partial compensation the low rating for these guys make ai gains a bit less xp but anyway being able to stomp early make ai sov too soon unkillable and snowballing

Brad and Derek, please respond to this - the problem of the AI not using magic in autoresolve battles is CRITICAL, and may ruin the game... it messes up AI battles and gives COMPLETELY different results between manual and auto-resolved tactical battles, making auto-resolve a game cheat rather than a convenience.

The solution is, as recommended several times, to have TWO auto-resolve modes: the standard one, used throughout the game, which uses magic and consumes mana, and a selectable one (with another button) which allows easy battles to be resolved without the PLAYER (and not both sides) using magic...

I hope you resolve this - it's one of those undetectable bugs that can screw up game dynamics and gameplay something fierce...

It also made CPU Gilden put the smackdown on CPU Resoln in my last game b/c Resoln's magic was useless in auto-resolve.

It makes the magic nations weak and the military ones strong.  And the dark wizards pull this despair shit that can wipe out the entire batlefield, but if you autobattle them, they are nothing.

Also, I watched a mage sov and his army suicide itself against a big ass Drake.I think it was a drake, it had 130 HP and overpower.  The Drake didnt attack them, they attacked it.  I don't think the AI take that stuff(overpower) into consideration along with not using magic.

Has this been addressed and/or fixed in the next patch? It's a big issue and affects the whole gameplay...

Can somebody from stardock PLEASE reply on this? It may very well ruin the game if left unfixed...

Whoa!!  I never really use autoresolve unless the fight is a complete waste of my time.   However, after trying it out, I can confirm this problem as well.   Yikes, this is a bad thing.   Would love to see this fixed.

This is a pretty big deal. This definitely needs to get fixed.

I also agree with the solution recommended here.

This concerns me as well.  Not having the auto-resolve use magic is just weird.  Ins2 is right with having two buttons, it is the logical solution.

It should NEVER be the case that the AI doesn't use its magic in combat.
