Sales question [solved]

I'm interested in buying the game, and I emailed sales@stardock about 10 days ago, yet no reply. So if anyone here could answer these questions I'd be grateful.

I was looking for a regular boxed copy, but cannot seem to find one. I read on one of the faq's on the galciv2 forums that there was an option to buy a boxed copy during the checkout process for the digital download. I could not seem to find this. Is this still available?

I'm willing to just buy the digital download, but I would like assurances that no other software is required to either download, register, or play it. (I will never use Steam, for example, for this reason). As long as I can just download the game itself, that would be ok. If a download manager is required just for the actual download, then I could deal with that as long as a) I can move the downloaded game to another PC, for example, and b) I could uninstall the download manager with no effect on functionality of the game.

Also, in the ultimate edition, is it possible to play the game as the original only, ie, without the expansions. I always like to play a vanilla game before additions.

Thanks for your time.

I'm from the UK and managed to buy Gal Civ 2:Dreadlords and then Ultimate edition on disk in the shops and now use ultimate edition exclusively and it gives you the option to switch chapter Dread lords/Dark Avatar/Twilight when you click the on-screen icon and the play/edit menu comes up before you start the game proper so you can choose for yourself which to play.As for the download options I would have to defer to marvinKosh for advice on that but as far as I know once your register your game you can download the game again but whether stardock/kalypso charge is another matter. I got Gal Civ 1+2 off of amazon and although advertised as 2nd hand they were still in their celothane factory wrapping

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply - answers one of my questions!

Main thing now is regarding the download manager. Can it be uninstalled after without affecting playing the game? Anyone?

What was the ticket number of your support ticket?  You should have gotten an auto-response.

I didn't use the support system, I sent an email to [email protected] (like it suggests within the e-shopping section)

Emails get routed through our support system, and there should have been an auto-response email with a ticket number.  If you didn't get one, then most likely we didn't receive your email.  You can open a ticket directly through the system here:

Update:

Perhaps the email got lost - but it's obviously been found somewhere; I recieved an auto-response on wednesday and a reply/answer yesterday.

Thanks to those taking time to respond!

Cheers....
