Have you met Mimbly?

Mimbly is an NPC who visits (rarely) and offers gifts if you answer his riddles.

One gift are magical dancing boots.

One of my favorite features of Fallen Enchantress is that despite being a strategy game, every…sing…unit…in the game has their own equipment that can be customized in real time. So you get dancing boots, you put them on, and you see it reflected visually on the map.

This, combined with being able to design our own units is my favourite thing about Elemental. I personally do not think that people appreciate exactly how demanding this feature was to implement. Normal strategy games just have pre-made models with no customization at all - this feature is really only found in RPGs. In fact I can't think of a single other strategy game that featured heroes and units that were customizable to such a degree (speaking about graphics here, not gameplay or mechanics). Even DOTA-style games do not feature anything like this.

Edit: I recall one old 3d rts game where you designed your own military tanks from an assortment of parts. Can't remember the name though, but they had customization of graphics dependent on that.

Edit2: Oh yeah, there was that 3d rts scifi game where you played like normal but on 3 planes/maps and you had mecha units that could be customized slightly. A part of that game was collecting and re-using parts for those mechas. I think they changed graphically as well.

Earth 2150 had this system of customizing your own units. (rts)

I agree that this feature along with town building customization brings this to the top of my list of ANY 4x games to play.

Yep, that feature is amazing, but it is not enough used in Fallen Enchantress. I think the items in the magic tree should be random: low level magic items at the beginning and high level magic items at the end.

To go one step further: The spells of the magic tree should be included in the spellbooks (air, earth, fire, water, life and death) and the magic tree should have random spells: low level spells of randomly determined spellbooks at the beginning and high level spells of randomly determined spellbooks at the end.

To go another step further: The weapons of the warfare tree should be included in nine categories: simple blunt, simple cutting, simple piercing, normal blunt, normal cutting, normal piercing, masterwork blunt, masterwork cutting and masterwork piercing and the weapons in each catergory should be random.

Every time I don't attack the would-be mages, he pops up again with the same riddle and same amulet of laziness.  I have one for each hero now!

Then the quest spot respawns elsewhere on the map.  Maybe this time i will attack.

To echo Wizard1200:  no slings or crossbows?  or will I be able to make them in the Workshop?

Multi-level quests and more loot drops (especially when conquering enemy heros and sovs) would be awesome!

Keep it up!

I can think of at least one........Galciv 2.  The customize ship utility for designing your own ships was awsome.

Building ships was fun in galciv2 but it wasn't tied to the equipment you actually had on them.

I must be the only one with bad experiences from gal civ O_o

The unit designer I liked had choices of making support units for your armies, or just straight up power-houses dealing tons of damage, or other more tanky-based units to soak up tons of damage.
Ofcourse the gameplay wouldn't let you use all your devious tactics to full, but oh well, the unit designer's round in different games sometimes really show good promise.

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri had it, too.

He is a random event mate.

I have seen him once, he decided the quest location he wanted to spawn should be inside the locked gates of the master quest...

Just got the revelry deal myself. Cool stuff. Although I don't think the finish current tech mechanic is working. Will make a bug post.

I'd love to see some randomness in the items myself.

You can have a burning axe and a banishing staff, why not a banishing axe or a burning staff?

If you're really lucky , you can find a banishing burning sharp axe of +2

Getting the proper enchantments should require training blacksmiths, and should have a chance of failure if you try multiple enchants on a weapon.
