Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know that, for me, Start8 IS a *very* important and extremely useful application! I almost uninstalled Windows 8 today after realizing how cumbersome some of the features were.
Being a developer, and getting in the 50s+ (age wise), I'm getting set in my ways and I was having a hard time getting used to Search for example, or opening the control panel or just putting the computer to sleep, etc. Had to create shortcuts just to restart/shutdown & sleep. My point is.. when you *have* to create your own applications to make your life simpler when using a tool that you use 8+ hours a day, then there's a problem somewhere.
Start8 helps (a LOT) in bringing back this simple way of life (err, way of using my OS lol). I love the fact that it also boots to the desktop. Now, "Metro" feels more like a new feature of Windows rather than an imposition of a philosophy. In a few weeks using Win8, I spent 95%-97% of my time on the desktop... now it'll be easier to stay on it all the time (as I want).. and use Metro if I feel like experiencing the Internet (news, research, etc) as a multimedia experience.
Anyhow, all of this just to say Thank You very much for developing this superb application. Let's just hope MS doesn't decide to complain or something. In my humble opinion, you're HELPING them save Win8 with this application so they should be thanking you instead!
