Ok it<s not really pc gaming but Xbox 360 question...

I just got an xbox for my kids birthday. an xbox with 3 more controllers a few games . There was a very good special for the 4 gig bundle. I know the bigger the hard drive the better off I would of been. But it was a lot more money and more than I could afford.

 

My questions is can they get by playing Bioshock, Batman and Halo with just the 4 gig? Other than buying an external hard drive which I probably will later on, can I just buy a USB key and plug it in the machine? I have a few 32 gigs cards lying around can I use those while I wait a bit for another hard disk?

  If they aren't going to be getting a bunch of Downloadable Content, and don't install the games directly on the hard-drive like some people do, then 4 gigs should be plenty for 3 games.  (I used to keep my whole profile on a 256 MB memory card on one of tyhe older 360's, but had to switch to the Hard Drive when I started to buy DLC.  Installing the games is recommended if the system will be on a lot, as I'm told it helps with overheating, but they have drastically reduced overheating issues with their newer models so that shouldn't be necessary anyway.  If you are willing to shell out extra money in the future, you can always upgrade the size of the hard-drive later, although I am not possitive how you would go about transfering gamer-profiles if you did that...

Yeah, once you get an x360 HD installing is the way to go.  It cuts off the noise from the DVD drive while playing.

Transferring gamer profiles and such is easy in the system menus.  I no longer have a 360 so I can't walk you through it, not that you'd need me to yet anyway.

I was looking over the internet that Halo ODST and The new halo 4 requires more memory. What I can,T see to find is if I buy a 16 gig stick on a flash drive will that be sufficient?

 

My kids might be able to answer that one but since it's a surprise I just want to spare the cash and make sure it works for them when they open it.

We finally opened the Xbox adn I tried playing ODST with friends and I got the message no hard drive detected even though I had a usb key on the machine.

 

SO I guess that's still a  problem. I had a 160 gig lap top HDD and I put it in a xbox hdd casing. Tonight when I get home I will plug it in and see what happens.

I had to flash my laptop harddisk using hddhakr program but once that was done I was able to use the drive in my exbox. It went from a 160 to a 120 but it works. Free drive for me.

 

Now I can play pretty much anything.
