"How can I exchange artwork between skins?"

I am new to SkinStudio so please bare with me. I am using the skin "wood aero". Another skin, called steampunk, has a start menu design that I really love and want to add to wood aero, in place of wood aeros start menu. Is there an easy way to do this? Stardock's Knowledgebase says this:

"You can use the import feature (available for registered users only). Open the skin you want to add the artwork to and start the Skin Browser. In the skin selection tree select the skin from which you want to import the artwork from. Select 'Features' and check the checkbox next to the features you want to import. Press the 'Import selected features' button. Both settings and images will now be copied to the current skin."

I can't find anything in SkinStudio about a Skin Browser, no "import feature", no "skin selection tree", or anything about importing different elements from other skins. Can someone please point me in the right direction? The knowledgebase article is 7 years old, so maybe all of these things are called something else now?

You can open WB config and in settings, set WB's to use the taskbar and start menu from one blind while using another. This only works with UIS2/1 skins though.

I have not used that feature so am unfamiliar with it's function.

but with SKS it can be done by opening both skins to the start menu edit screen and replacing each of the graphics. HOWEVER, it will probably require sufficient tweaking to make it work. Margins need to be adjusted, paint methods need to synced and there may be multiple images if there were layers used. There is also the issue that some of the start menu graphics are used in other areas and may impact the effect you are attempting to gain. If I recall correctly there are also some start menu animation that would require frame rates and such to be initialized.

I'd do a "save as" for the aero skin to change the name just in case it got mucked up, that way you'd still have the original aero skin.

hope I'm making sense, it's late.

Thank you for your replies. The wood aero skin is UIS0, but I don't know about the steampunk theme (it is not UIS0, so I guess that would make is UIS1/2?). I cant replicate the steampunk start menu in wood aero because of the differences in options (wood aero only lets me change the texture), and the steampunk skin is much too complicated for me to change everything except the start menu to look like wood aero.
