service temporarily overloaded
When I try to access the mods site from the game menu it gives me the error "service temporarily overloaded".
It's been like this for two days. Is the service down?

I just got this after reading about the lan support so my roommate and I could play. I am quite frustrated.
LAN-support? Have they announced it? Please tell me it's true! ![]()
5 more copies sold to my gamer friends then.
Edit: Argh, thought it was the Fallen Enchantress forum...... sorry.
still this error:
"service temporarily overloaded"
no fixes ?
I'm encountering the same problem.

We are investigating this. The fixers haven't been able to reproduce it internally yet, only seems to happen from outside.
I think we've found what was unhappy with the webservices and fixed it for the moment. At some point in the next month or so, there will also be an update pushed for WoM, Demigod, and Sins: Trinity for Windows 8 compatibility, though that is not directly related to this particular issue for mp.

Do you seriously think E:WoM is worth releasing for Win8? It isn't even done for XP/7 yet....
Are you saying that you can install it on two differently configured machines and play even an hour without a crash?
I'd like to know the secret.
I won't be getting Win8, but still wonder if it's worth any updating to support crashing on yet another OS...
I can't believe Windows 8 will be any more stable than previous versions of Windows...
Please tell me there's some magic configuration that makes E:WoM playable a reasonable amount of time without fear of crashes...
Thanks,
Eric
Mine seems pretty stable. The campaign had a lot of glitches, as if it were designed for a previous version of the game and way too many changes to the game design made the campaign unstable, but the sandbox mode has only crashed on me once, and that was after running 3 hours straight.
I've played many times since then without a crash or even odd behavior. (Excepting a couple of frustrating design flaws of the UI, but I've already delivered my opinion of that in another thread.)
I know there's a memory leak in there somewhere, or something bad enough to crash Windows with a memory error and force a reboot, but it's only happened to me that one time and only after 3 hours running.
I'm not playing the game out of the launcher, I'm going straight from the Start Menu. Maybe that has something to do with it? I've actually had launchers / clients / etc. interfere with games before and cause them to crash, so I bypass them whenever the game publisher allows it. WoM actually doesn't even need the client to do its internet thing, the achievements and so forth, so I'm very happy about that. One less part to break; one much-needed point in Stardock's favor.
