Fix for the "side-by-side configuration is incorrect" issue

Symptom:

After installing or updating the game you may get a popup that says the following and keeps the game from running:

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail."

 

Cause:

This is being caused by a missing C++ redistributable, vcredrist_x86.exe.

 

Fix:

We will be updating the download to include the missing redistributable, but until then you can resolve this be either:

 

1. Updating windows, including security updates.

or

2. Manually downloading and installing the appropriate version of vcredrist_x86.exe (link below).

Well, I tried 5 different versions of C++ redistributables, but your one actually works.

I dont post too often but I must  log in to inform you that I am very pleased with how quickly someone figured out how to solve this problem. I was ready to call it a day when the game wouldnt work... but I log in and found the solution immediately. And problem solved! TY Derek Paxton.

Fantastic news.

Now can we get a fix for the people who can't play the beta at all due to "Login failed - you may have missing or stale registry data" errors?

I've opened support tickets...nothing.

Asked around on the forums, best response "open a support ticket".

Installed new C++ software and the game still wont open. After unzipping it asks if i'm sure i want to uninstall. I don'

I am facing the same problem .. tried everything .. but still its not working....    i can not see any icon on desktop .. not even taskbar or start menu....  i can only open task manager.. and from it ..  i tried doing explorer.exe  but same error occurs.. also  tried sfc/scannow .. but scan stops at 10% .. plzzzz help  X( X( X( :( :'( :'(
