Hoshiko strategy.

Repair vs Demo

Is it better to have hoshikos in the middle of your fleet using Repair Drones or to send your Hoshikos into the middle of an enemy fleet using Demo Bots?

The idea is:  If you're disabling weapons for 60 seconds, isn't that the same as repairing the damage you WOULD have taken?

I'm sure this strategy must work against SOMETHING.  Like flaks(high DPS) or HCs that have also high damage output?

Or certainly using Demos is better if the enemy is focusing on your Caps or Titans.

Viable?

But you don't control the target its shooting at, you do control what gets healed. Also keep in mind the only thing that does 20 DPS or so is heavy cruisers, but that's before shield mitigation and armor. Hull restore reduces the DPS values AFTER that, so for purely defensive purposes keeping repair bots online is better than demobotting a heavy cruiser. Of course repair bots don't stack, while demobots can keep affecting different targets.

The key thing about when to use demobots is not DPS but fleet supply. Hoshikos cost 4 fleet supply. Flak do as well, but in a 1 on 1 battle, your Hoshikos won't beat the flaks before running out of antimatter. Heavy Cruisers cost at least 10 fleet supply, so you can use a much smaller fleet of hoshikos to disable the heavy cruisers, using the remainder for LRF or bombers to take them out.

Demobots can still be used effectively in other situations though, in which you can use both repair and demo bots. If you have all culture and antimatter upgrades, or just an Dunov using its ultimate ability, your antimatter situation will be a lot better, so you might be able to have them use both for a while.

Demo bots are very useful against HC spamm that are smaller than cca 50-60 HC.

If you have am regeneration fully researched and fighting in your own culture with AM benefits 1-1 or 1HC-1.2HOSHI ratio can shut down those hcs very effectively while repairing your ships as well. Otherwise you need to switch repair auto cast off.

More than 60 HC reach threshold where enough HC is not disabled that they will kill your hoshis too fast and you are set to loose unless you have at least 50% of their HC fire-power in your own kodis or bombers.

Keep in mind that treshold depends on race and upgrades their HC have. As well ass any support fleet he might bring to fight as well

Theres actually an hoshiko strategy either than just spamming them with other frigates and cruisers?

Lord have mercy..

Quick Question: Whose not building Hoshikos, Guardians and Overseers.

If your not then you need a strategy for each 1.

I love you guys.. just mix your eggs with baken, tommatoes and peppers even. Just mix it up and you'll do just fine on the battlefield.

Cheers.
