Replay Strategy Analysis pt.2

So my team lost this game. I'm calling on the rag-tag Sins community to give me some feedback on WHY. My team had Random Map as El Capitan, Traxin, Ozakalukas (or however it's spelled), and a new player. The opposing team had Howthe? (captain), Candido, KBroke, Universe, and a new player. Some might say the teams were imbalanced, especially the level of the respective captains, but let's just ignore that for now. How could we have won this game?

Some points of interest:

The game starts with each team's new players being quickly dispatched from play reducing it to a 4v4.

Each side has at least 1 Vasari Loyalist. As you will see, results vary.

I expand as much as I can until I reach the boundaries known as Howthe? and Kbroke. Then it gets kinda stalematey. I almost kill Kbroke's Titan but somehow it gains levels and crazy health just before dying. I think he might've Wailed and gained a level just before dying - great luck for KBroke. We have some really intense mirror match (AR) fights and due to wail, Titans, bombers, starbases, etc. can't advance. Same for me and Howthe?: chokepoints with starbases create a stalemate point.

I didn't see much of what happened on the left side but was surprised to see that Candido was never eliminated from the game, despite being in the suicide spot. That might answer my question for me (and good for him I suppose).

Anyway, long story short, game gets decided when Howthe? does the Flying Macarana to my homeworld and our team still hasn't made much progress. I think only Traxsin and I had any real fleet left by late game for some reason.

So, what went wrong? Is Kostura cannon-phase node creation-fleet jump OP? Were opportunities missed? Please give me your insights...

Actually on watching the whole game, it was pretty obvious why we lost...

1. Complete failure on the part of RM and Oz to take out Candido.

2. Complete failure of Oz to build anything whatsoever the entire game other than 2 Eggs and a few failbases and run around thinking STTC is the shit while he sits at the bottom of the econ and military ranks.

3. Howthe getting the only eco slot in the whole game allowing him to set up a massive eco boom unopposed without needing to fight at all for the first 50 minutes = big, judicious feed.

4. RM, being one of the ones tasked with taking out the enemy suicide spot player in a 2v1, hilariously calling for feed early and often.

5. Poor overall teamwork, communication, and choices.

Screw everything else...even if you played well, unless someone on their team seriously dropped the ball, this right here made it gg from start...a skilled VL in eco can strip feed like none other or rush titan + kostura....either way, you were hosed from getgo and even if you made mistakes I don't think playing better would have changed the final outcome...

Considering sins slow based gameplay i therefore suggest people really should concentrate on military power and communication on taking out people on suicide spots. Quick advances and teamwork executions. Don't ask for backup when your loosing-ask for a teamed assault above all to snipe caps and titans and forget about asking for backup.

When pressed on 1v1 battles around the map then make sure your pumping out units every second than spending the credits on something else-surround yourself with repair platforms.

If your enemy has started to eco up but you have the bigger fleet at his door step then you kill him. Plz concentrate on military power and teamed assaults.

Kosturo is effective on the strongest player to create chaos and if you lack the necessary military force to divide your forces because some idiot is building star-bases early on and other structures instead of going for a collaborative mobile military forces then you may as well wave the white flag against vasari players.

Star-bases always fail-always when there on the wrong spot. If your advent then your star-base should built on your home-world first so you can scuttle every other culture temple and spend on tiers and trade-after you have a insanenely big fleet! If your tec then your star-base should be built on the front line and if your vasari then its anywhere so long as they have colony pods to payback their cost of construction but that has never bothered me.

Advent star-bases are a long range culture bombardment structure and can defend your home-world from being colonized while packed with other insane weaponry coupled with shield bowel defenses. If by any chance you think your in a bad situation vs vasari super weapons then starbase your homeworld first.

Well, for the record, I don't usually do strip feed as I see it as short-sighted if the game prolongs as I'd rather have the logistic slots for trade ports.

However, I agree that late game Vasari is pretty lethal as they can pretty much attack any planet they damn well please, including planets that are halfway across the map from where your fleet is.

I think it works best if a suicide manages to pull it off or if you have the luxury of two eco players....

It's like an early-game gamble.  It's great if it works and allows you to kill an opponent so that you can use his planets' logistic slots.  However, if he lasts into the late game, your economy might suffer since you'll be left with dead roids and extractors sans logistic slots.

doesn't change fact that sttc is op. In right hands, stripping 3-4 planets is enough for kostura, phase node, few caps, titan + small bomber fleet. achievable within 15 mins of game. Then when you jump to a hw, you can just strip it/use titan phase node ability to jump back to your hw and fire somewhere else if things get ugly.

It's like an early-game gamble.

You know my play style.  I am methodical and take my time killing my enemies.  I rarely take a gamble that might jeopardize my survival late game.
