Patch Tuesday MS and Adobe: 5 Critical and 4 Important Patches

This month it’s a mixed bag of patches to Windows, IE, MS SQL Server, MS Exchange, Server software and Developer Tools.

The IE patches are for IE 6, 7 and 8. These are important, especially for businesses, as well as home users as browser attacks are the most common ways to compromise security.

Bulletin five is very important as it addresses remote code execution on MS Exchange. This is a major attack target as it is the communications center for most businesses, and email servers are prime targets.

Adobe will be putting out Critical patches as well, as they are timing updates to coincide with MS's.

The updates will be released at 10 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time.

OK, anyone else having this problem?

I have installed the same update 4 times. It shows as installed 4 times in the history list. No failures. Yet WU keeps telling me I need it.

KB2647753

I just checked and no updates are listed. None at all for today. Something wrong maybe?

Uncheck everything else but KB2647753 and install it separately.  Then reboot and install the rest.  Worked for me, I just started installing them one at a time and then did the last five at once with no issues.

I'm just getting them now. Nine important and four optional.

the flash auto-patching is weird. eg.. default browser is firefox.. so it updates flash for "other browsers" only and didn't update the activex one at the same time.

.... why?

just like java autoupdate is borked if you have both 32bit and 64 bit installed.

Speaking of Flash. Twice MSE came up and said a program was trying to delete itself. Turns out it was Flashplayer. It gets updated then tries to run away. lol

I think it's trying to tell you something, Uvah. ;)
