Who would use a custom Stardock Linux distribution?

.... to have an easy to use and developer-friendly alternative to an Apple/Microsoft "Pay Us 30% Of Your Income" Duopoly?

I certainly would! :D   And Brad has already said Stardock is capable of it! :star: :sun: |-)

It would convince me to try Linux.

None of the software I run would function on it. So I wouldn't even look at it.

If everything I use currently, plus everything that is available on the internet and works on win7, plus any future releases of games and other software - if all that worked on a Stardock Linux release, I would consider it. IF there were significant advantages to win7. Just to be clear - this is not a case of me wanting to "test things out and see what works". If there wasn't a GUARANTEE that EVERYTHING worked, I wouldn't look at it. Because it would be a downgrade.

"Linux Draginol" does have a cool ring to it... I don't think it's gonna happen, StevenAus... but: "Never say Never."

Nah. As Heavenfall said. I fought off MS like a lion but at a certain point resistance was futile, and now with w7 they have actually something that sort of works. 50.000.000 LOC (of which i am sure 1/3 is to correct for the bugs caused by the other 2/3) but still.

Excised the ebullient verbiage of the thread title..... [it's a heading, not a Precis of War And Peace]...;)

If you click on the "edits" button you'll see it was a fellow Australian "wot diddit". ;)

Sorry, to the ordinary Stardock user, edits to OPs are hidden (whereas edits to other posts aren't, except perhaps if they are by admins). =)

If there wasn't a GUARANTEE that EVERYTHING worked

Hehe, but you don't even have that with Win7, yet you demand that of a Linux distro?  :D

That's funny!

I would definitely TRY such, but it would need a fair degree of windows compatability at least wine or better, so that I can use particular programs that I am addicted to and have not been released on other os's eg mailwasher, fe, diplomacy, and also recent release hardware compatability eg x68& x77 mb's i7 cpu's, bulldozer cpu's, ati 78XX gpu's, nvidia 6xx & 7xx gpu's rediculous amounts of ram eg 16gb and more.

I would actually considered Stardock paid distro's of Linux if they were supporting them and merging their oustanding ultilities in them.

In a heart beat.

If it works as well as Win7 and does what I want it to then why not. It will already be compatible with Stardock apps, a given, so bring it on! I'll give it a good run.
