Suicide pocket

I have been looking at player replays and I've noticed that the Vasari player seems to have a

better chance to survive in the suicide pocket than TEC and/or Advent. Could this be due in

part to the Vasari getting their starbase earlier and it being far more superior at defending

than the TEC and Advent starbases? Am I Wrong? Your ideas will been most helpful. Thank you.

Might be more due to the team's best players picking Vasari. The early access to starbases helps, but actually the Advent Starbase is the hardest to take out once fully upgraded.

It is precisely because the vasari players can have extremely tough anti bomber support with only 3 tech labs (phasic trap) and their strong starbase, and tech level 1 repair structures.  Then throw in a phase jump destabilizer and you have a sick defense that will stay strong even in a 2v1 situation.  you only have a chance 2v1 against this if the vasari starbase hasn't been upgraded health/ weapon wise to lvl 2 on both.

Best way to deal with this is to leave one ally to guard/scout the vasari world and watch for fleet buildup and hit them with culture, killing their constructors if you can to stop them from countering you (with phasic trap this becomes almost impossible, but you can try).

Tec can go early ogrovs, yet that will seriously hamper their ability to actually participate in any other useful function in the game for a long time.  Its usually better to take your 2v1 somewhere else and kick the crap out of that front while you build an occupation/defense force to let the culture do its work on the vasari HW.

I'll agree to that sareth, generally it's best to not try and waste time on res cracking one world, better to push out. Even if they may bit in the ass, its better to gain overall dominance.

But I think it's all been said, phasic trap rapes... its just too good imo.

The starbase itself can be impossible to kill also with the right defences.

Though early game it's very annoying due to its mobility, though late game i'd imagine it'd be on hold ground.

And phase missiles hurt...

Main reason the vasa defences hard to crack is because their sb is fucking mobile...its usually moves towards the attacker and fubar's hes sieging/bombing plans

I just imagined a medieval fortress moving towards a sieging army and rolling over them :-D

Vasari are also the only race that can benefit from holding a few worlds. It give them a chance to research Stripped to the Core, which allows them to eat a world or two then build a huge fleet.

TEC and Advent need feed in the suicide spot because they have to build a fleet or run the risk of being overrun by a vasari player putting a star base on their worlds, upgrading it, then overwhelming their defenses.
