Orkulus Upgrades - Weapons or Strikecraft?

I've only played in Single Player or with my friends, and I always used the Orkulus as VR with three upgrades on weapons, four on armor, and one on the Frontal Deflector Shield.

Would it be convenient if I upgraded the Hangar bays, rather than the weapons? Can 14 strikecraft make up for the lack of the Disintegrator and the Phase Missiles, considering that the base Pulse Gun of the Orkulus has Anti-heavy damage, rather than Capital Ship-type like all the weapons on the other starbases?

No, go with weapons. It maybe good to drop frontal deflector shield to have 1 strike craft upgrade if you are fighting a lot of bombers and want some fighter support. That's about it.

14 strikecraft is only 7 carriers which are easy to build. Go with weapons and deflector shields or reintegration.

And on a side note, which is more useful between the Frontal Shield and the Debris Vortex? I personally think the Shield is better, because it reduces damage by a lot, and it recharges quickly
