So, maybe I'm overlooking something here. I've scanned through several posts and I didn't see anyone ask about this.
The problem that I'm coming across is that I'm trying to create some candidates, but I only have a cap of 100 points for the platform points. Is there any way of raising this allowed number?
I can understand putting caps for the characteristics so you don't make your candidate too good-looking, charismatic, rich, etc. But why would you tell somebody "You can't take stands on issues more than 100 points." This is terribly odd, considering that there are (by my count) 44 different issues. On a scale of 100 points, that means on average, I can only take a deviate from the center on each issue by less than three points. What do you do with a created candidate who may be completely pro-life or entirely pro-gay marriage, who loses half of his points in just one category? What if the candidate is both? Can I not also take any stand on deficit reduction?
I think this is very odd to tell someone that they can create themselves as a candidate, but not even come close to reflecting their actual views because they actually have an opinion on more than two issues.
I found where you can change the values in the candidatexml file, and even when you try to create the candidate and edit the points in the file, and go back into the candidate, they've all been wiped out if the total exceeds 100.
There is no way this limitation can be placed on included candidates. Santorum, for example, would have to be using up almost all of those points on abortion and gay marriage alone. That doesn't even begin to touch Christian nation, etc. I mean, that guy would probably use up 400 points easily.
Any ideas on this? Is there a place in the program that that total can be raised?
