Object Dock 2 Configuration App bogs down, stops responding

I have been running OD for a long time and while the docks themselves have always performed well, I have had a nagging problem with the config app.  As mentioned in the title, it runs slowly from the outset and eventually stops responding. I can either wait a few minutes until it "wakes up" or kill it with task manager and restart it to continue what I'm doing. This makes me dread changing themes. Granted, I have a LOT of OD backgrounds installed, so what I'm asking is does the config app have a "limit" on how many themes it can handle at a time? Are there workarounds that will help? Or could it be something else entirely? I hope you can help me sort this nagging issue with an otherwise stellar program.

You are not alone in this Robert_Snyder, occasionally it does happen to me but then I realize that it is more then likely something running in the background that I forgot about.  There are some anit/virus programs that will run in the background and even some defragging programs.  One of the things you can do is open up Task Manager or any other program that you might have that shows the status of your resources (CPU and Memory).  I leave Task Manager on and minimized with the performance tab opened.  That way when ever I do a task I can give a quick glance to the Task Bar and see what going on.

If I was smart enough I could use Task Manager to see just what was using the resources at that time, I ain't.  :S

One thing you didn't mention is whether your computer is home made or off the shelf.  The reason I ask is that sometimes an HP or Dell or whatever brand could have something running in the background that you might not be aware off.

Hopefully someone will come along and response with better information.

Try moving a large amount of backgrounds to another  location. If that speeds things up, it may be time to archive away those seldom used backgrounds.

Is your security/AV scanning the program while it loads config? Try whitelisting or excluding the OD2 Control Panel or the entire program.

My computer is a Gateway with a clean install of Windows 7 (No  bloatware, OEM utilities or anything like that.)

I'll have to check on the AV angle. As to archiving backgrounds, I thought that a possibility, but I didn't want to do it unless there was a chance it would help.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I'll let you know what I come up with.
