How to Mod with Steam?

So I've just recently rebuilt my computer, and was very excited to see GalCiv II on sale over on Steam. So I bought it and everything is running fine, but one thing I wanted to do was get some of the mods for the game that I wasn't able to try on my first go around with the game. The issue I ran into, is that I can't find the folder around my computer.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure this question has been asked before, but all I could find were topics on people hating steam... not really helpful to my point. One guy said that Steam didn't like mods, (they have a mod workshop now but that's beyond the point) and I was wondering if this comment had anything to do with my issues.

Thanks in advance for any help rendered.

Hi,

If I understand your question, you want to know where the Mods should go?

For my HDD, it is C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\galactic civilizations ii - ultimate edition\Mods

Look at your Steam shortcut properties and it should list its base directory.

The Steam browser should not really care about any mods you have, unless they are not compatible with the game and the technical mod requirements or requisites - but that I would not know of, as I have only been playing the game a few weeks, so I will mod it later on after a dozen or so games.

if you could be more detailed on 'your issues', i could append further advice.

thanks,

You may also need to patch the mod screen (see here) so that you can select a mod folder in-game, which I have to do even though I didn't install from Steam.
