ObjectDock vs Rocketdock

I want to add a dock to my windows screen, but I don't know which one I should go with. I really like the stack function that rocketdock has, but I see it has not been updated since 2010.

I'm biased...obviously...but Objectdock has been on my laptop forever. In fact on all iterations of my Brainiac. Best to go with the Pro version vs the free version. Much more functionality plus there are tabbed docks and...you can have more than one dock on your screen. Not to mention the tremendous amount of backgrounds for it. Rocketdock is good but IMO Objectdock is better.

I really like the stack function
You can use Stack Docklets on ObjectDock, they work fine.

While you are checking out docks, take a look at Winstep  NeXus.

Edit: what taz said. ;)

I believe Rocketdock was abandoned, that would be enough for me to avoid it.

can you stack with objectdock?
You can run the stacks docklet, yes.  And you have native fly-out menus.

You can use more than one stack per dock. At one time,I was using 4 on a zoomer until I bought ODPlus and used tabs instead.

Object Dock hands down !

"Reflections" (also at the Top position and for the Tiles !!) with version 2.0 updated only 2 years ago

+ The Wincustomize Gallery with tons of docklets most of them cloned in the RocketDock Gallery

and so strange Uvah missed my DarkSkin for the Stacks docklet  with the link and the instructions enclosed :typo:

(just the same Wiz already provided )  ;)

If you want a great, solid performing dock system you can do no better than Winstep.

( Sorry SD, but NeXus wins IMO. )

No problem I know very well what happened !  btw I really missed your "karma" for your laptop recovering  (you know my karmas count is still less than 100 !) :(

So should i go with Winstep?

Wincustomize is hosting the NexusDocks Gallery, JcRabbit is the NexusDock very active developer and also a loyal WC member

but quoting myself "when we talk about Docklets, Skinners and the WincustomizeCommunity, only ObjectDock is always the Winner !"

falcon was asking for the Stacks docklet and Nexus Dock doesn't support Stacks +  the ObjectDock Tray docklet (working with the Free and Plus versions) has the full features you can have only with the Nexus paid version ;)

You can use both OD and NeXus,  the backgrounds and icons will interchange for the most part. Neither use much in the way of resources. The free OD limits you to one dock, use NeXus for an additional dock. If you favor one over the other, drop one later on.

Personally, since I have Winstep Xtreme, I don't use OD any more. (and Phoon is correct, imho.)

I've gotta agree with Phoon and Wizard1956. Once I went with Winstep Xtreme, I dumped OD. I've been very happy and never looked back.

Stand Alone stack

I have to add that the Wiz sugg is very good as you can use the StandAlone stack also with NexusDock just create the shortcut and drag it on the dock ! ;)

The StandAlone Stack was created by Chris'n'Soft using the Matonga stack library to add the stack to the "quick launch" bar

" So, once you have downloaded StandaloneStack 2, unzip the files in a real directory (for example c:\standalonestack2)

Just run standalonestack2.exe to create and customize your stack !" then create a shortcut and as I said drag the shortcut on the Nexus Dock |-)

I'm OB paid user from a long time. RD hasn't been updated for the last 2 years and unless it will be revived i don't see a reason to speak about it. I've paid for Nexus Ultimate licence just to try it "full-featured" and support a developer as here's not much competition on the "docket market" and it's always good to have some. But i'm stuck with OB. It's best optimized dock so far. Nexus isn't that smooth as OB is, it has problem with icon resolutions, Nexus doesn't let launch application more than only once (it's highly demanded for explorer let's say - especially if you can't stack locations in lists) and whereas has some other problems Nexus's bloated with features of questionable usefulness. So although it's no doubt that OB needs fixes, improvements and new features it's the best dock for today.

Ya this is kinda old but I'm going to post anyways. Its hands down Rocket Dock for one reason being able to drag a zip icon to CDisplayEx on my dock to open it is a feature that should be on every dock application. I would switch to Object Dock as it is more stable and Nexus also seems to lack that feature.

:::EDIT:::

I heard they removed the feature from Object Dock because it was said to be confusing, I find that frustrating.
