Why the heck would I want to post to Metaverse?

TotA vanilla is hilariously broken, and DA isn't much better.

I play modded TotA, have done for more than a year.  I don't see that changing unless there's a patch in our future.  So asking me to play Metaverse is a waste of time.

Here endeth the lecture.

Not that I disagree with the general sentiment, but what's the problem with DA vanilla?

It's hardcore vanilla.  Every race with the same buildings and the same techs?  I managed to last about an hour into one game before I gave up and jumped back in the time machine.

Someone was asking you to play metaverse games?  That's a bit odd, since the metaverse's time as a high score list has come and gone.  As a social tool, it's also no longer relevant.

On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with playing a game and having it checked against the limits and rules set forth by the developers.  That's pretty much the limit of the metaverse's usefulness in my opinion.

If you want to make your own rules, mods or use cheats, the metaverse wouldn't make sense.

For TOTA, I'd have to agree that it's pretty well broken without mods.  On the other hand, DA has some subtleties that you might not notice at first glance.  The buildings and techs are dependent on alignment and each race has unique abilites that add to their personality.

The races don't share all of the techs and buildings unless you modify the game or severely limit which races are involved.

Fair enough.  I'm quite partial to the race-specific technologies (and the buildings they allow) that were added with TotA though.  Once you've played Drengin with slave pits, there's no going back to factories.

if you want to, you could try my TOtA economy tech fixes.

also, i have not had this problem.

I find the TotA tech trees to be sufficient and ok. Besides, I overcome any obstacle easily!

The reason I play with modded tech trees is so that the AI plays better.  Less of the 'I must research Advanced Radioactive World Colonisation even though it will take 56 weeks' while they're in dire need of the most rudimentary form of military.

Of course it would be ideal if the AI prioritised things a bit better, but now that everyone's flapping their gums about GalCiv 3 I doubt there will be any fixes for GalCiv 2.

It's a leaderboard to which you can submit finished game scores.  But only if you clicked the Metaverse button to start a game.

Ya no kidding, I thought the Metaverse was a RP play ground :P

I've been gone for a long time now  what is TotA and what fixes should I add to twilight of arnor games? I'm still on vanilla. If there are fixes I would love to implement them.

Twilight of The Arnor.  Can't just call it Twilight anymore, that short name has been spoiled by sparkly vampires. ;)

Check the modding section.

Personally, I continue to call it Twilight specifically as a big middle finger to those vampires. But to each their own.

Way cool

Thanks for the update.  Makes sense I guess I should of seen that.

I certainly check that modding block. I'm going to wildwood next week and I'm bound to have a few hours free during the drive to play a game :-)
