an AI behavior change since vanilla

Hi, i don't usually post but I had a question about the AI's behavior with all of the changes to the game since the original came out.  Maybe it's just me, but it seems that in vanilla sins the Advent makes huge numbers of fighters and bombers but since entrenchment these were all replaced by the drone mines which i find very easy to deal with.  Why is this?  Is there any possibility that the AI is going to be changed in Rebellion in a way that affects this?

It is a big issue with Advent. They have dealt with it a little bit in Rebellion. Now only a third of the drone carriers are gimped, but still, that's a lot of firepower.
