Convertxsi.exe parsing issue

I have done quite a large amount of reading on these forums and have 'abit' of modding done on SOASE myself, so please hear me out....

I've successfully run convertxsi in the past through cmd to convert my nicely done .xsi models from softimage Mod Tool 7.5 to .mesh and then fixed em up to work perfectly in SOASE. But now returning to my work a few months later, all of my properly exported .xsi files and even new ones I just finished yesterday have been giving me this error once I run the convertxsi program to convert them....I retyped this from the cmd.exe after I got the error reading...I also ran the program on another computer I have, with the same results...I know how the executable should run a nice little list regarding all of the 'nulls' to points etc because I just had the program working like 2 months ago... Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit etc I just can't seem to find anyone else having issues with this....and it used to work fine...I'd appreciate any help or advice, thanks!

C:\WIndows\System32>c:\convertxsi tradeship_PSI.xsi tradeship_PSI.mesh

ERROR : CXSIParser::Open

Been a long time since I did this without my script but...

Open your Command Prompt (found in Start Menu\Accessories or type cmd [Enter] in the Start Search or Run box). Now lets use the   change directory "CD" command to navigate to the converting folder. This is not   case sensitive. Note that you can also use paste [Ctrl + V] at the command   prompt.

CD C:\Developer\ConvertXSI [Enter]

navigate to the folder your files are in. Or is the .xsi file and convertxsi.exe in your C: dir?

C:\WIndows\System32>c:\convertxsi tradeship_PSI.xsi tradeship_PSI.mesh

you can use without CD but need addresses on command

C:\WIndows\System32>C:\WherIsConvertXSI\convertxsi c:\MyModels\tradeship_PSI.xsi c:\MyModels\tradeship_PSI.mesh

or move done mesh to diff folder

C:\WIndows\System32>C:\WherIsConvertXSI\convertxsi c:\MyModels\tradeship_PSI.xsi c:\MyGames\SoaSeMods\NEWtradeship_PSI.mesh

Any addresses wit spaces need quotes around "c:\progam files\my model.xsi"

also, how do we move the point or 'hardpoint' where a ship spawns the 'warpfield' to jump to phasespace etc? for certain models I'm working on in my mod the warpfield generator is in the middle of the ship instead of in front of it? I feel like this is a very basic issue but I can't seem to find any info on moving the point? is it tied to P001-Ability-0? or something else entirely?

P001-Ability-0 is a point just like a weapon. All points are nulls which should all be under a null that is renamed rootpoint

abilities without an ability point or null typically use the P001-Center. If your warp field ability is  Ability-0 in the entity then make sure you have a  P001-Ability-0 null under the rootpoint and select it and move with the transform tools.

hmm, no I meant the phase field that is generated in front of every ship before it jumps to phase space....unless that 'point' is located at ability-0 by default?

thats not a null point attached to the ship. Particle effect and I am no expert at those. Or is this for Rebellion?

It probably calculates half the bounding radius and adds some. Make sure your P001-Center is exactly in the middle of the ship.

Hmm k thanks for the info so far though, if anyone else has any information I'd really appreciate it. and yep it's for rebellion...I've been working on a ton of models and imported them successfully but it just seems the warp point is all over the place :(

I dont have Rebellion so get a txt version of a mesh and look at the points they use. You may need to add a new style of point.

eg

h) Other Particle Effect Points:

P001-(particlename)

look for how the point is positioned relative to the center point
