Eradica Titan Invincibility Power

To be honest, the ART is seen as having the worst ultimate ability - in order to activate it, the titan must die (and after the invincibility duration is over, the thing dies, no matter what.) To use the ability again, the titan must be rebuilt and killed again. It is nice that they really buffed the invulnerability time, but as it stands, its activations is still determined by your opponent.

The VLT is not weak - it instils fear (well, for me at least). With its micro phase jump, it can completely bypass an entire fleet and attack the softer ships that stay in the rear, like strikecraft carriers, or just bypass planetary defenses and phase jump to the next gravity well. The VLT has a tremendous mobility advantage.

The Eradica's ability that you're talking about is it's ultimate which is an ability that only activates once you've killed it.  As soon as you do, Unyielding Will makes the titan incredibly powerful as the Advent player can now spam Chastic Burst to their heart's content.  The trick when dealing with an Eradica in this state is simply to fly away.  After the duration on the ability ends, it dies.  You seem to be thinking that it can be activated whenever which is not the case at all.

It sucks.  It's almost as uselessly stupid as the Kol's antimatter reserves.    They could have made it have a red button to stay in keeping with the "sacrifice" theme but nooooooo...

I think its very cool. Its an ultimate ability, it should be fairly powerful. Maybe needs better effect when the invincibility duration ends.

Just run, then it dies.

You're telling us how to combat it when we should be making it better.

Why not just make it a buff you can activate that does most of what it does now: increased defense (not invulnerable), ability cooldowns are reduced and antimatter regeneration is increased.

Then, it scales depending on how much hp it has remaining. So, if you activate it near death, it's as strong as it is now. If you activate it when you have full hp, it does nothing.

Give it a fairly long cooldown and call it a day.

Ye im not a fan of the ability either - its no fun when you have that titan and its an annoyance when you are fighting it.

That said its a great weapon and it means you can send your titan in knowing it will die and still have a decent chance of competing its mission

The description for the titan also gets to me because its not supremly hard to defeat as the description would let on - the ship needs better hull / amour and i assume they wont change the invulnerable ability but if they where going to then the ship needs a more powerful weapon or make a weapon that stops one ship and 50 ships near it from jumping for 60 seconds

the ability would be fine if titans lost levels when they died.

The problem with the Eradica is that it is a major pain in the ass and offensive power house, it becomes stronger as its fleet dies and goes invulnerable when it dies and when you rebuild it gets to pull the same shenanigans all over again.

i don't understand... your reasoning seems to indicate that the ability is too powerful. most people I have encountered feel it is worthless. As a result, more points are spent on chastic burst and strength of the fallen.

If you want to argue that those abilities are too powerful, well that's another discussion. Unyielding will is the issue at hand and it being something seen maybe once per game and something you can run from doesn't seem too useful.

It's rediculous.  I'm in the middle of an AI game and me and an ally bot control about 80% of all territory.  We had 3x the ships as the last remaining player, two high level titans.  We can't win.  I've lost the enormous bulk of two maxed out fleets simply because of this ONE AR titan which we can't kill.  The AI, as far as I can tell, doesn't withdraw when the titan goes super-sayan on us and I can't pull my fleet back without still suffering terrible losses since the mobile death machine naturally follows us along with at least it's long-ranged weaponry.  Or worse, it leaves and by all appearances comes back as strong as ever in a few minutes making the dozens upon dozens of ships lost in the previous fight a fine FU to my sensibilities.  And to make matters even worse is that now at lv. 9 the thing is incredibly difficult to damage in any case.  120 bombers didn't do much more than drop it's shields a little bit before the carrier group (with not one but TWO tanking Vasari titans) suffered so many losses that it couldn't fight effectively.  If I go in with heavy cruisers the AR titan's AOE damage ability (whatever that is.  I haven't played with it myself) wipes them all out in about a minute.  That leaves me with titan-on-titan violence but the Vasari Loyalists can't really compete in that sort of fight.  I've even had the benefit of a fully upgraded starbase but the most I was able to do there was simply drive it off while still loosing far too much for what precious little I did.

It's bullshit because as it stands I can't possibly build enough of ANYTHING to counter this one last player and his tiny collection of worlds.  Resources aren't of any concern and I certainly have enough facilities to build maxed replacment fleets in very short order but it's all for moot.  No other titan presents this kind of game-breaking difficulty.  The only way I've found to compensate (besides sitting back and letting culture win for me) is to manually set AI races so no one gets to play as an Advent Rebel.  If the game launches with this it'll be a tremendous blow to how I can play it because even I do develop an effective military strategy against this thing I doubt the AI to do the same unless Ironclad has spent some serious work into the AI on this specific issue.  But in that case they should just put the work into making this thing playable (here's a good rule of thumb for them to adopt: titan's should not excede the overall power of a Starbase at an equivalent "level".) 

Balanced would be nice, but they should probably take this at one step at a time considering how sickeningly fargone this damned thing is.

best titan by far.. when it kills you it gets experience points and when you kill it then it tries to get as much experience points so it can come back stronger.

I think the ability is damn good as it is.  However, I do think it needs a weapon cooldown bonus and/or additional target banks simply because i think it would fit in well with the theme of going "super sayan" on the opposing fleet that just killed it. And It would look very cool to. 

Whilst its activation is determined by your opponent the very fact that this titan possess's the ability alters the strategy of any (human) player anyway. 
I mean are you going to  focus fire on the titan first (and have to deal with the supporting fleet and a super sayan titan) or focus on killing the supporting fleet then dealing with it separately (leading to very large buffs thanks to strength of the fallen). Either way the ability has just made your titan that much more dangerous to the enemy regardless of what they choose to target. So its not useless to spend points in the ability at all!!

Eradica is my favourite titan by far... It very hard to kill thanks to purification which synergises so well with reanimation and strength of the fallen (free enemy clones to keep your titan alive AND increases its damage output ) . It is bolstered by the death of its fleet. It unleashes a deadly AOE attack that usually always results in one or two free enemy clones to purify (again more synergy). And finally if the opposing fleet has survived long enough to kill your titan it doesn't go down quietly it goes crazy and wipes the floor with any fleet that lingers or doesn't have time to run away ( I'm feeling a supporting coronata here would be very nasty indeed).

 

Exactly, there's hardly any work around.  Regardless of what you choose here, as someone going up against the titan, you get screwed.  There's no strategy in that (for either side), just enforced pain which is a terrible thing for any RTS.

Well you could argue that disruptive strikes on the kortul is  enforced pain as there is not counter to it you just get hit with it. The strategy in passive's like these is that you must engage the ship the differently than if it didn't have the ability. For example you wouldn't send in just dunov's or something else that is ability dependent to deal with a kortul that has disruptive strikes. 

In regards to the eradica, Keep in mind you are losing a titan when it activates, so i guess the strategy for the player is in determining whether you should run or let it die in the hope of killing more of the enemy. A decision that may not always pan out well given The fact that the enemy can run from it.
And as the enemy you have got to decide what you are prepared to lose in order to take it down. I.e. is the benefit of the enemy being titan less worth the cost of me now being frigate-less??
Another strategy is to tailor your fleet so that it is more resilient to chastic burst (caps, titan and jumping orky comes to mind).

As you can see, whilst the ability itself is a very unique one in that it activates out of your control, It does present  some interesting opportunities that would not be encountered or even considered when up against other titans. 

I disagree. The point of Titans is to break stalemates. They are supposed to be grossly more powerful when leveled than a starbase.

The last time I checked, it was fairly worthless. I'll check it out, but consider using corvettes with your bombers.

And please realize that all titans will keep coming back. Destroying them or attempting to destroy them is not the way to win. Sure, there are times when you have to fight one, and if you win, so much the better. however, unless you take out the titan factory, it will be back. Let the titan attack your planets and go for their capital. Game over.

I must admit, now that the duration's been doubled, I'm really looking at Unyielding Will as an extremely powerful weapon.

At level 2, with 1000% AM regeneration and 150% cooldown reduction, it can cast Chastic Burst every 5 seconds, in addition to its regular firepower. It'll wipe out anything that didn't get the hint to phase jump the hell out of there.

Im still a fan of the idea of making it activate when the ship is close to death (like at 15% hull Points) but instead not die at the end but just be at that same hull points total and have all pasive regeneration disabled for some period of time. This way when facing it you have two choices. Either take its punishment so you are there tomake the kill when it ends it tantrum, or run to preserve your ships which gives it a chance to get away. I think it would have to be nerfed a little to balance its not hvaing a garenteed death, but that it could remain that last desperate act kind of power, without making it useless, cause no one wants to have to rebuild thier titan. As it is now its the most usless ability in the game, since you can just run from it (anything it is dangerous to can outrun it) and it dies after haveing acomplished little. I didnt even see it work till i fought an AI who had selected it, because neither i nor anyone ive played with ever bothers with it and just throws more points into other ability when playing Adv Rebs. With this small change it would be your last damaging stand, or a good way to escape with your almost dead titan

So I fought a Lvl 10 Eradica yesterday, and it did do it's invincibility thing, which I personally don't have a problem with. I think it's neat. But then, when I presume its time was supposed to be up, it did turn invisible, stayed invulnerable, and continued to fight and fight and fight for a long while until it finally died. I am sure the turning invisible bit isn't meant to happen, but is the invincibility really supposed to be THAT long? Sorry I can't give an exact time, it was against a computer and I was going at x8 speed of faster, but after I 'killed' the Titan at one time, and after it went invisible, it proceeded to phase jump to an asteroid field, confronted a fully upgraded orky [I was VL], and killed it before biting the dust.

I personally like the final ability, though suicidal. I'm just not sure what I've fought of it is supposed to happen the way it did. The computer will also have to be taught not to retreat the titan when it goes super saiyan, and it bothers me that it appears to still regenerate hull points [not really important].

Are you sure it went invisible, as in you couldn't see it anymore, or did you mean invincible?  The invincibility is i think at 4 minutes at level 2 of the ability.
