Way to take planet without genocide?

Way to take planet without genocide?

As far as I can tell, there is no way to take a planet without bringing it's population down to 0 and destroying it.  Seems odd to me, especially when a planet goes because of culture.  I understand it's for balance reasons, but... there really seems like there should be something.

For everyones sake, please don`t steal his ideas.

I'm flattered just enough by your comment that I'm actually gonna write the damn thing. Oh, and enjoy your karma.

Look for Vignettes of a Solar Empire under the General category, soon.

I still wish there was a way to take over planets without knocking everything over.  Perhaps a "Debate" tech.  on the diplomacy tree.  You could start out as a Novice and end up a "Master".

Backs out of the room slowly...

I see what you did there.

Further elaborating on this subject I think you should be able to sell planets to allies. Just a thought I had along time ago. Also <_<

Well technically you can do this one... just agree to have your ally send you the decided amount of resources for the planet then scuttle it to let him colonize it.

@MayallCommunion:

Actually, I'm not.  Sorry to disappoint.  :pout:

The only Sins fluff I've ever written is that old post about Sins weapon lore.

Hopefully, you'll like my vignettes. I just started writing it about a half hour ago. ^.^

I vote for a Vasari envoy thats more than a little fond of sending down phase missles when the guy on the other end of the comms gets a lil "snippy", or just hurling them out the embassies airlock.

The Vasari are jerks, but they're also pragmatists. For one thing, they wouldn't waste valuable phase missiles on an unshielded target. For another, executing someone would be wasteful, and they don't have time for such foolishness. A Vasari who went around executing valued citizens for no good reason would probably be spaced for treason.

Thirdly: why execute someone when you can punish them in creative ways?

In their ten thousand-plus-year history of Empire, surely the Vasari have come up with creative ways of ensuring the obedience of valued citizens.

"Do what I tell you, now, or I'm putting on Bryan Adams Greatest Hits" seems a particularly creative and barbaric method to me.

But one atrocity now makes your position very clear right from the word "Nooooooooooooo!", just take a que from Genghis Khan, present them with what "No thanks, we're good" leads to, waste a lil now to show everyone their exact place. Serving their betters.

Since this Topic is going AWOL anyway, is there a lot of SOASE Fanfiction around and where can i read it?

There is an epic and I mean EPIC as in professional level one that followed the captain of a Vasari Skintra carrier and two human slaves. (The relationship between these slaves and their Vasari masters was more complex than one would think) It had all the elements of a very successful story, and definitely the best thing I read, sadly I cannot find it anymore. :(

Why would you want to take over the planet without genocide?  This is SINS of a solar empire, not fluffy bunny with pretty pink slippers of a solar empire!
