Pirate attack "tactic" and envoy suggestion

Hey

first thing: when the pirates attack one of my worlds wich has trading posts they will attack those trade ships instead of my fleet and defenses. the pirates are then to easy to destroy.

second thing: i was wondering about the envoy, i tried to get a cease-fire with another AI computer but they kept attacking the envoy. wich was only doing them favors....why would they destroy something that does favors for them. this sometimes makes it impossible to get allies i think.

My suggestion: envoys cant attack. they only benefit the AI planet. why not make them neutral (you cant attack them), instead of the invulnerable shield skill.

A human players' ships and defenses will automatically attack your envoys, too. You need to get a cease fire before sending an envoy, in order to gain enough diplomatic standing try gifting them resources and money, fullfill their quests or give them quests. You can also research improvements in diplomatic standing in the diplomacy research tree.

Last week I had the game set on easy while trying to make peace with the AI.  I made attempts at not entering enemy space, limiting them from entering mine, sending them missions and offering gifts.  When later in the game I sent large amounts of envoys to their gravity they still attacked me.  Things have to be changed so that reasonable actions are rewarded with reasonable negotiations.  There is no negotiating involved from what I've found.  Other than this aspect of the game I truly enjoy the hours I play each day.

making friends with the AI is pretty easy o.o

You have to get a ceasefire up before you can send in envoys.

The only thing I don't like is not being able to directly control my own diplomacy rating with another player.  I had to give an AI like 20 900 crystal missions just to reach 4.5 on MY side for a ceasefire >.> (unfair mode)

Also it depends on the faction.  Advent loyalists and TEC rebels are xenophobic, and are harder to negotiate with.  Likewise, negotiating with someone of your same faction is easier.

If envoys couldn't be attacked, they'd become invincible scouts.

I rarely even research anything in the Diplomacy tech tree. It hardly makes any sense unless you are going for a diplomatic victory of sorts. It could all be removed and I wouldn't miss it a bit.

Envoys would just be invincible scouts then - keep them as they ar but i do agree with
