0.80 pirate issues?

Greetings.

Gave the new beta release a go and i got beat quite soundly by the pirates.

At first i thought it may be related of the flak frigate nerf, because my defense vessels died like flies when i intercepted a a raid, that headed for another player.
But later on i've lost a third of my quite varied Advent fleet to an assault i would have repelled without worries in the last version.
Finally i tried to give my Titan XP and sent it to a base with my fleet... and i lost the Titan for the first time since the beta started :-D.

I'm not sure if this was some kind of fluke, but i wanted to check, if someone else noticed this increase in pirate strength.

For clarification, overall i like the pirate mechanic and though they felt a tad underwhelming before, i would not want that "Diplomacy situation" again, when pirates were not only a hassle to an average player (like me) but far more dangerous than another empire could ever become.

This is taken from the most recent change log.

Updated Pirate Raid fleet compositions per level. Raids will now have a broader range of ship types and numbers. The max level raid is now particularly brutal, so you won't want to be the target of that!

Yes i actually read that, but the first example i've mentioned was quite early in the game, maybe around the second or third pirate aussault.
Seems like i underestimated the range of this change then.... for me it read like this would become apparent not until mid to late game.

I see what you mean. For me, on the third raid that the pirate made (still very early in the game mind you!), I noticed as well that the fleet composition was much more brutal. I did have a pirate pillager in there.

Fine by me, it used to be like that anyway.
