Something Weird is Going on...

Something really queer just happened.

I was playing on point blank against an unfair Vasari AI with the Distant Stars mod enabled.

I had managed to take control and was about to destroy him, but when i jumped into his home system he had an extremley large fleet in-system...  But that's not the problem.

after he steamrolled me like unfair AI's do i looked at his fleet size.

He had more ships than his fleet supply could support by about 300 supply.  I know, weird huh?

My question is that is it possible that he warped in ships from the dark fleet?  'Cause he had a warp gate at his homeworld.  Could that explain it?  I never play as Vasari so i dont know if you can exceed your supply with those damn gates.

Or was the game just F****d up?

Wow I need to try out the update this whole dark fleet thing sounds like a game changer :D

Ships from Returning Armada can not be used to go over the fleet limit. That said, the Vasari do have a tech that increases their fleet supply by 15%, and if DS doubles most research that means it could have a +30% bonus, or up to 2600 fleet supply. It could also have a supply pact if it has a TEC ally.

it had no ally and it only had the base fleet supply

How do you know what he researched?

from when i quit the game.  it shows all those bar graphs so i saw how mush fleet supply he had.

Oh the good old days when u could autocast 10 gates at once and get over 1k fleet supply beyond your cap

those were horrible, dark, evile times

but i need to know, is there any way this is within the programming?

The only way to get above the limit is by capturing ships or abilities that build, not summon, frigates (Sova's missile turrets, etc.). So either your CPU did a lot of those, or secondary fleet supply bonus from pacts/normal research don't show up on the statistics screen. And its in a mod, so it might just be something weird with DS.

Doesn't the ai already cheat above above unfair difficulty. I SUSPECT THIS IS JUST ONE OF ITS BUILT IN TRAINER FEATURES: UNLOCKED FLEET SUPPLY.

Yeah, the AI was being rather mean.  It's TEC light frigs had 19 damage each.  That means their damage was increased by about 80% after 50 minutes of game time.  The AI's that I've defeated in the past are lending this guy their recently rebuilt planets as a matter of vengeance.

I have to admit I was playing as Vasari today, and something weird like this happened to me too! During the game I was researching larger fleet sizes, and selected a couple of cap ships on queue, but for some reason in response, it let my fleet capacity go negative?! Surely this isn't possible?!! Or maybe it's a bug?

If you get ships while you're UPGRADING the fleet supply, it does not register the increase in fleet supply until after the research is complete, but it does register the decrease from buying ships.
