Cannot start a game with friends

My friends have older versions of Sins that were purchased before they could register on stardock. Where can they get an update to the newest version?

They have the original, Vanilla game (and not the expansions)? Last I checked you probably need to register it with Gamestop's Impulse and patch it from there.
