We're looking for feedback on the new Galaxy Forge for Rebellion - specifically for crash bugs or things that don't work. Please post in this thread with info if you have anything to contribute.

If you do have something to relay to us, please provide repro steps so we can try to fix the bug.

We will not be adding new features or enhancing existing ones. This is for crashes and bugs only.

dracoredux, have you tried fixed starting positions instead of randomized starting positions?

I'm a bit embarrassed, lol. I found the option, harpo. Thank you.

For anyone else who may have had the problem...the default setup is randomized starting positions. You can change this by setting the false attribute for the "Randomize Positions" setting under Galaxy (number 3) when viewing the Galaxy toolbox.

I clicked my star to expand the star system and now I cant find the map I was making. i expanded it to 100000 i believe.

use the mouse wheel to zoom OUT till you can see the map, (and you might have to use the side and bottom scrollbars to re-locate the systems.

Hello, I'm rather new to Galaxy Forge but have been playing with it recently and it seems that I'm having problems with the Move area radius and hyper exit radius actually affecting the map. The radius will get wider in galaxy forge, but when I get into the game, the planet has its default radii. Is there a limit? I'm trying to make a planet with 3000000 and 2900000 respectively.

1) It would like the sound of the approach of the enemy will no longer trigger the approaching ship types such as scout and missionary colonialist in the star system player. In fact, they do not pose the threat, and the sound is annoying and makes distracted by this change. Especially important on large maps.

2) Very often, the AI surrender prematurely for unknown reasons. And in fact it has a huge fleet, a good base and good prospects fight on. Please reconsider putting AI scripts and output them from the game.

3) After hours of playing 5-6-7-8 notice that kind of thing that the AI starts to build a huge amount of scouts, and accumulate them into a single system. Comes to 70-100 ships scouts. And they will not fly scout. Just standing around doing nothing.
Perhaps this is due to the fact that already explored the entire map and AI no longer need this type of ship, but he continues to build scouts.

4) After hours of playing 5-6-7-8 notice that kind of thing that the AI is no longer "active." He residues accumulate fleet of 3-4 systems and does nothing. Planet passes in the attack of another enhanced AI, and then none of them flies colonize it, which is why such "unnecessary" and let the world easily available to the player.

Feedback -- the game needs online multiplayer auto-download for Galaxy Forge-made maps.

I can't get my map to show up in the Galaxy Forge Tab.  Created it in galaxy forge that came with rebellion and saved it to the new directory.  Not showing up.  What do I do?

jsheeh9427, did you save it in the galaxyforge folder in the my games \sins rebellion folder?

if not then that could be why as the galaxyforge tab only shows the galaxyforge mapversion 4 files in the my games\....\galaxyforge folder,

the map designer maps are in the my games\....\mapdesigner folder

and the other three catagories are the maps that come with the game in the steamapps/rebellion/galaxy folder and serparated out by number of players and number of planets.

hope this helps

My GalaxyForge just insta-crashes on start, every time, no exceptions. This program has encountered a problem and needs to be closed, blah blah. Debug, Send Report, Don't Send. Don't have a real valid debugger on my computer though, and nor would I be able to glean anything from debugging.

Windows XP - Media Center Edition

Fun times. Got a completely new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium. Still insta-crashes without fail. Something about System.IO.FileLoadException.

What version of .net framework do you have?

2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5. 4.5 was most recently installed.

tl;dr: Someone was, at one point, aware that GalaxyForge requires Visual Studio 05 Redistro, and it wasn't mentioned again. Installed 05, had Windows get a security update for it, it runs.

Thanks for figuring that out. I only knew it needed 4.5. I'll try to bug the devs to add that to a sticky somewhere.
