Beta- Start up issue

Steam says game is unavailable

So. I pre-ordered Rebellion. Went to Steam. Downloaded the Beta. Clicked on the button that said play. I got an error message from Steam that said "This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time." So I started looking around on the internet to find a solution (and yes, to stop the inevitable question, I did wait until a later time before launching it again. It didn't work.) I found several people with the same problem. One solution that apparently worked for some was the simple re-installation of the game. I tried that, still gave me the same error message. Another solution said to verify the integrity of the game files. Did that, two files were wrong in some way, something was downloaded. I guessed this was some sort of patch or fix. Tried launching again. Once again, I got the "come back later" error message. I got my brother to poke around in the game files, as he is much more tech savvy than I am. He said that some sort of exe file was missing and that I should see if the file was available somewhere. It was not, to the best of my knowledge. What do I do?

I am having the exact same problem,  tried reinstalling and tried the verify integrity of game cache option and neither has worked... I even tried reinstalling steam to no avail.  I have tried everything i know to try other than a clean install of my operating system which I am hesitant to do because one game isnt working ....

 

I wish Sins didnt use steam I have had trouble with steam with a number of games in the past. I hope the final release isn't only available through steam or I will not be playing it.  I dont think the Sins guys care if one person doesnt play though.

really hoping for some help heere, I have had no luck at all.... I had to set steam to compatibility mode for civ v to work around another start up problem but changing it back has had no affect.

1.Completely log out of and exit steam

2.Then navigate to your steam folder and you'll see ClientRegistry.blob

3.Rename this to ClientRegistryOLD.blob

4. Restart Computer then log into steam

This will force steam to re acquire any updates that might be causing it to do that. Good Luck!

You can also trying running it straight from the EXE.

It should be located in,

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sins of a solar empire rebellion 

However you may have it labeled as another Drive or moved all of your games to an external / SSD.

Also you mentioned not being tech savvy no problem, it should say "Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion" , it's type is application and it's size is around 5 MB  if you are looking at the columns next to it.

I remember my brother saying something to the effect that the problem was that there was no exe file.

If there's no exe file and you've installed it twice, check your antivirus logs. Most likely that's the guilty party.

If for some reason you can't get it to download the exe, I can send it to you on msn. It's around 5 MB.
