starbases need to have anti-strikecraft weapons

I know this seems kind of pointless to bring up but starbases really could use anti strike craft weapons. it makes me mad when i get attacked by a fleet made mostly of strike craft and just getting owned even if i have a little bit of squadrons for the starbases. i mean titans are pretty much just moving starbases and they have every kind of weapon (including anti strike craft weapons). so it would help if there were anti SC weapons on SB's.

Titans have great anti-sc weapons don't they? I'm also firmly against this by the way. Fighters don't deal a lot of damage and bombers can be 'countered' by making fighters. Needless to say this doesn't go far HUGE swarms but then again a starbase is not supposed to be invincible.

Why does everyone have this all or nothing mind set?  I don't think anyone is advocating making starbases immune to strikecraft, a swarm of bombers should be able to kill it just as well as they do now, the starbase should just be able to take out a few squads with it.

If it's "just a few squads" I would again like to point you to strikecraft upgrades. Seriously, even if you put 7 bomber-/7 fightersquads on a starbase it's still enough to fend of a group of support carriers and kill the carriers themsleves, no matter where in the well they are.

yes i was just kidding about the adjudicators but they do have the uses just not against sb they probably could use a buff so that they can help against sb

 

bomber goes through like everything and we shouldnt have to leave carriers behind with fts to protect a sb from bombers

they go through a titan like its nothing and it has flak weapons so giving sb a fighting chance against them wont rly hurt anything and 14 fts against 50+ wont do shit

14 fighters vs. 50 bombers will do shit if you kill the carrier fleet's antimatter.

There are these amazing little things called light frigates that do the job nicely.

50+ bombers is anything but a few. The amount of resources invested into that amount of carriers is enough to build a sizeable defensive fleet in addition to your starbase, so I don't see the problem.

StarbasePirata.entity -one of four npc starbases in 7DS and they do have the antimatter to mess up a strikecraft whore's day.

Fend of the carriers yes, but not a large (not huge) fleet of standard frigates.

Realistically the big problem is:

Shouldn't a Starbase be stronger than a Titan, in return for not being mobile?

50 bombers will tend to ruin the day of a Titan too, if you catch it by itself.

That's the issue. Starbases are often alone and have to fend for themselves, so anything that counters them at all is going to feel unfair. They could probably use a general buff given that fleets collectively are stronger now then they were in Entrenchment when the Starbases were first balanced, but adding anti-bomber guns isn't the fix for that.

Don't the standard frigates have to get into attack range of the starbase to do anything efficient? They'd get chewed up by the regular guns leaving behind the carriers, or they would stay at the edge of the well with the carriers doing nothing. "Worst case", both sides have a number of AA frigates/structures that just cancel out each others' bombers, which can be solved by sending in a proper fleet to clean up.

I'm not a fan of the weapon bristling behemoth type of lategame ships and or structures. They tend to make the game repetetive, I'm not sure giving the starbases AA will have a different effect.
