Why does Galaxy Forge suck?

Question to the Devs

I'm really curious. I've been on SINS for years now. I bought the first one. Loved it. Bought the second one. Loved it. Bought the third one. Loved it. Bought the Beta for Rebellion. Love it.

I can't make my own maps. Why?

Unhandled violation, unhandled access violation, random crashes, random freezes, massive memory leaks, sudden stubborn slowness, so on and so forth.

How is it that you guys have an awesome game and probably the worst map creation interface I have ever seen for any game. Anywhere. Ever.

For god's sake. Do something about this.

What version of the .net framework do you have? Everyone gets a little bit of those things but they are a pretty rare event for me. o_O

Why not make your own editor then?

Lol good excuse...

If the guy can't handle the current editor what are the odds of him being able to write a new one himself?

I do agree that the Galaxy Forge tool needs some getting used to at first though. Yet there are plenty of great guides on how to use it present on these forums. I highly recommend checking out the Modding section.

That all being said, it is worth mentioning that it NEEDS an 'Undo', 'Copy', and 'Paste' button ...

Well im pretty sure its mostly unfinished, but it does need improvements. It crashes often, what boshimi said. And we need the ability to add our own descriptions/art to our maps(unless we can already I just coulden't find out how).

Cut

Copy

Paste

Undo

Redo

Never Crash

All things that are required

Being able to save a planetary template of your own design would be nice.

Personally i've never had problems with the galaxy forge but if you have constant or frequent crashes, its pretty simple:

SAVE OFTEN

but in the effort of improving the forge, I'd like to see the ability to easily add neutral ships and structures to planets

You know before we had to make maps in notepad. They aren't required to make a Galaxy Forge at all. ;)

Yeah--it's a crutch--just like a keyboard and monitor.  If you learn to hand -spark your hard drive connection wires so you can transmit binary by touch and listen to the hard drive sounds to interpret data you don't need a monitor or keyboard either.  That's how real men do it.
