DVD burning problems

Hi guys,

After burning files to a new DVD, the disk is somehow getting closed, the message is always "not enough room on this disk". So I start with a 4 Gg disk, successfully burn about 1 Gg and I get that message. This happens with both optical drives and with assorted types of CDs and DVDs. I have tried numerous burning programs including Ashampoo and Nero Lite with the same results. It also happens with "sending files/burning" with Windows.

Does anyone have a clue what's going on? Am running W7, HomePrem 64-bit. The 2 drives play CDs, DVDs and BluRays just fine and burned data reads OK. Is this a software or setting problem somewhere? I have uninstalled and reinstalled both drives and, yes, in all burning programs I have "close disk" unchecked.

Any help or direction will be greatly appreciated.

copperhill, I'd check Ashampoo Support (http://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/sup), and on Windows 7 Forum (http://www.sevenforums.com/). You'd probably have a higher chance of solving the problem...

OK, thanks, Doc. I went into Default Programs > Change Auto-Play and I chose "Blank DVD - Burn files to disc using Windows Explorer" and that
seems to have fixed the problem, at least so far. So maybe Windows was getting upset at me for using other burning software X(  . That's as good an explanation as I have yet to come up with.

Thanks, Doc. I may have to change it when CS6 comes out (downloading the beta as i write.)
